Wait a minute, I just realized something, there is no Sonic CD on that list. You know, I'm really hoping that list is fake, because it be really disappointing that there would be no Stardust Speedway in this game. Also, classic Amy is shown on one of those toys, so maybe there's hope. Perhaps there is a Sonic CD stage in the 3DS version, or Trunk's source forgot about a CD stage. Either that or Trunk's source isn't that truthful, but what do I know.

Seeing as two of those stages are tropical stages and the rest are almost entirely city stages plus Planet Wisp, I'm calling fake.

If anything I can see them being at least somewhat celebratory to Sonic CD, including two stages from both S3 and S&K. Now two city stages representative of the SA series doesn't sound too unlikely at all, but honestly it sounds more like Casino Park / BINGO Highway would be the Heroes pick, and Kingdom Valley would definitely be the 06 pick since it got the most attention and screentime (not to mention being considered by many as the best stage in the game).

I suppose. There's a distinct lack of variation and + - no factory/Eggman base   level on there, though there's no mention of what the Unleashed stage might be. It's just that Trunks has been right about things in the past IIRC.

Are those levels listed in order of appearance?

Not trying to put down your reliability, Trunks, but I remember hearing about this anniversary game being somewhat like a Sonic Heroes 2. Whatever happened to that? + - unless you were trollan and I missed that completely

I at least hope for Ice Cap to appear, and I also hope that if Sky Sanctuary is really the S&K representative it will also have some Lava Reef and Hidden Palace elements mixed in with it. That's just my needlessly wishful thinking, though.

It'd be too weird if they didn't have Ice Cap and Stardust Speedway in...IMHO anyway.
I guess I should also post my project since people have been talking about things that relate to it.

Three black eye levels, six green eye levels. Sega can pretend the Dreamcast/Gamecube years were a separate era all they like, but there really isn't anything distinguishing that period from what came after. There's nothing balanced about this roster. Particularly damning when classic Sonic is the selling point for this game, and all they're really doing here is baiting us with a bone and trying to ease us into the status quo.

Doesn't matter what they've got in store for the 3DS version when the GHZ there can't even hold a candle to the original, or Splash Hill. This is the shittiest thing Sonic has ever done to me. Holy fuck.

That list is pretty all right. Not fantastic, but not horrific like it could have been. Would've liked a CD level + - and a Chaotix one   but realistically I'm not surprised at the lack.

Expecting Unleashed will probably be Windmill Isle; that's what was most heavily marketed. That or Rooftop Run.

None of these really feel like good final levels, though... How very queer.

I'm actually more pleased by the large amount of modern levels- we have perfectly serviceable classic versions of, say, Wing Fortress and Hydrocity. More new level concepts for Classic Sonic is a good thing!

You guys really considering the validity of that list? If this game was truly made from a democratic point of view, why would Sky Sanctuary beat out all the amazing other levels that Sonic 3 offers? Unless you guys seriously fap over that level, there's no way it possibly beat out, say, Ice Cap Zone, a much more iconic level.

Not sure where the idea that this is "democratic" came from.

Ice Cap isn't as interesting as Sky Sanctuary from a visual standpoint, so that'd be a good decision on Sega's part.

The ice level in Unleashed really is close enough in terms of appearance. I'm glad they skipped Ice Cap, we've seen it enough.

From what SEGA said, they asked people from their departments, polled us, and did whatever else to find what levels people liked the most. SKY SANCTUARY? Come on now, if this is real, SEGA is, IMO, truly dumb and are missing a prime opportunity. You guys don't agree? Maybe I'm a random oddball who thinks Hydrocity, Ice Cap Zone, Lava Reef Zone, Flying Battery Zone, Death Egg Zone, and Mushroom Hill Zone are way cooler. (Note: It just said Sonic 3, and not Sonic 3 & Knuckles, or S&K).

Also, Sonic CD is a huge part of Sonic's history. (Introduction of Amy and Metal Sonic). There's no way it's not going to be included.

Except when you take setting into account. From Sonic Adventure up until Sonic Advance 3, there was still some surrealism to the world. See Lost World, Speed Highway, Pumpkin Hill and the last few levels of Sonic Adventure 2, All of Sonic Heroes, The fact that Angel Island hasn't been seen since Sonic Adventure apart from the handhelds, et al. Now look at Sonic 2006 onward. Nothing but boring old modern Earthlike setting with no walking, talking animals to speak of, apart from the main cast.

The only guy I see here makings sense.

In all honesty, I'd expect Death Egg to appear instead of Sky Sanctuary considering it was the main plot for "3" games

Just because it was a main plot point for those games doesn't mean the level is going to/would be (or not be) a big plot point for this game.

    Just saying.

What I find curious is just the lack of variety. I have nothing wrong with the stages, just why so many of the same trope? I believe it's fake, but let's assume it's real for a second. The three stages we know are in the 3DS version already have more variety. We have Green Hill, Casino Night, and Launch Base. That is more variety than this whole list has, and a fairly well rounded selection so far. Why would they drop variety in the HD console release? Why would they even think having so many city stages is a good idea? So many tropical zones? Where is the last level trope? Hell, where are the tropes that make Sonic?

Sonic is ALL about tropes, each game has had a good variety of them. Why would the title, here to celebrate ALL of Sonic, drop tropes to have stages that are all sharing the same tropes? It doesn't feel right, seem right, and the only evidence behind this list is some guy I don't know on the internet with no other basis. I don't know why I should believe him... Yet. We will see more on the game next month, and it may or may not comply with what he says.

Well if this is true, the only thing we can hope for is that our complaining changes something before its too late.

You guys keep harping on about Ice Cap and that's just what we're going to get, assuming they haven't finalized Sonic 3's slot yet. Really, think about it- it looked great in 16-bit, but what does that zone have to offer that Holoska hasn't already covered? Ice caves and hexagons.

And then they'll give us Holoska anyway because they're really trying to sublimate my entire body.

All of the Wii Sonic games invalidate your argument right off the bat, and SA1 was about as surreal as Unleashed was (not very). The handheld games don't count here, and even if they did, it's not like the Rush games were any less cartoony. Modern Sonic consistently flip-flops between varying degrees of "real", but Colors is the only game that pushes the concept as far as it needs to go. No matter how you cut it, the games just blend into one homogeneous mass. Sonic was the same in 1999 as he is now and classic Sonic is getting the long end of the dick.

So just a friendly reminder, every single "leak" Trunks has ever posted was a troll. I wouldn't really take anything by him legitimately until Sega actually starts showing off the game.
