Classic GHZ look like a blast to play. Like, right from the moment the stage and the music starts up. Looks really nice. The jumping, the movement, the running, the bouncing. They all just look so right. And so does the Modern stage come to think of it. Yeah, it's going to be mostly boosting and grind rails and whatnot, but I'd just as much want to dig my spoon into that as I do the classic counterpart. Watching those two videos didn't make me think "Oh, I wonder which one will be better," but rather "both of these will be a lot of fun."

Wonder when we'll be seeing new stages.

We'll probably see a new stage at E3, just a guess though it could just be more GHZ but I think they will be willing to show something else maybe even the first dreamcast or modern era stage so we can see how the 2D classic version of a newer stage will look.

Holy crap, they brought back the Sonic 1 and 2 title screen song :D I have been wanting to hear that in game for years!!! Also they have the S3K end of act jingle back, bout fucking time.

The art direction of this game is beyond wonderful due to it taking reference to the japanese boxart (I love that title card)

Oh I think I see what's going on with that weird spin dash on the hill. He didn't charge up the spin dash, so it didn't go very far.

Or so it looked like to me.

Well, after watching those videos I'm now even more impressed with this.

On my butt in front of the computer. Where else?
I'm working on working up the willpower to work on learning how to make my own Sonic fangames. Not quite there yet.
Noticed the uncurling issue definitely wasn't there. Good to know. Still looks like a few minor niggles like that Spin Dash fizzle-out on the quarter-pipe may need tweaking (or it may have just been a player error problem, that happens a lot with these things).

Platforming section in Modern Sonic's second half—was that even in the level we'd been shown before? Can't really tell if it's a totally new addition or just an alternate path we saw no indication of in previous videos. It's a nice addition nonetheless, not really obtrusive enough to break the flow of the stage, short and sweet. Probably see more of that in later zones, I just hope Modern Sonic's platforming control is up to snuff.

Well, I already like Unleashed gameplay so no issues there. The Classic gameplay looks sublime. Couldn't help but notice the scoreboard only has Time --> Rings ---> Total and a letter rank. And I approve.

It's possible we may see one Act per Sonic per Zone as well, which would be fine by me: one good stage in each style for each zone is enough, provided there are enough unique zones between 'em.

    Doing absolutely nothing
That's been in every Sonic game since Sonic Adventure.

Except Colors and Unleashed, anyway, 'though I can't really see that warranting an "about fucking time" response.

Except for Unleashed and Colors. And the Advances and Rushes.

    Edit: Damnit, ninja'd.

I agree with what Blue Blood was saying earlier: M.Sonic's jump looks less heavy. Though, I'm not sure if that's the word that I would use to describe it; it looks less sticky than it was in Unleashed and Colors, which I would feel is a very definite improvement. I'd be curious to find out if there's been any noticeable physics tweaks in M.Sonic's gameplay.

I like the fact that the multiple paths in the modern Sonic stages really gives the level more depth, in that you can see other playable parts of the level in the background if you do take the alternate path. It's very nice to see that even in the first stages they're really trying to add some depth to it. I definitely can't wait for E3 to see if they show off a different stage or 2.

I like how there are little platforming sections throughout M. Sonic's level, specifically the part before the tunnel where there are a lot of grind rails. If this were Unleashed, the Team would have just left it at grind rails and not put those ramps and stuff in. I think this is a great sign for the later levels.

Not where I want to be.
Sonic (?): Coming summer of 2055...?
Both of those videos had a "please love us, we're doing it right this time! We're really doing our best!" vibe to 'em. It's working.

Also, people can stop bawwing about the eyes now. They look like they've been fixed.

About the PC and 3DS versions, Shiggy said this on NeoGAF a few days ago:
    http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p...mp;postcount=61

One of the admins, Nirolak said in the Sonic Generations thread there that Shiggy's reliability is very high. It's anything but confirmed now.

It's not very reasonable for them to waste all the efforts of letting the music department record these pretty nice alternate basslines etc only to ditch them later. I wish Tetsuya Mizuguchi could give a hand or two in this.

Either way, constant sweeping effects are indeed quite annoying. I'd prefer how it was done in SU Wii, ie you just hear the boom satisfying the excitement for only a second or two.

PS: I went over the vid again with some audio processing and it seems that they're applying BOTH effects. It's quite ridiculous and off the point. However the annoying part only comes after you've kept holding the boost for 2 to 4 seconds or longer. Maybe it'll become a way to discourage players to be too boost-happy?

Oh wow. Didn't expect to actually be getting a PC version. Thought it would be nice, but the previous announcement could simply be a mistake.

Really hoping Sega doesn't saddle it with some idiotic DRM and ruin what would otherwise be hands-down the best version of the game.

Can say that, at least in my case, DRM is going to lose them a sale- if I'd have to download a crack anyway, I'm just going to torrent it, as is the case with a disturbingly large number of PC games.

PC version SHOULD be given as much attention as any console version, and put out as a physical package without DRM and with official mod tools. That'd be fantastic...

Will it happen? Not holding my breath for any one of those clauses, I'm afraid.

I just went back and checked the footage. From the looks of it, there's never been a problem with the eyebrows during gameplay, it's just the CG stuff.

something still looks off with the 2D play mechanics and physics in the new video.

I don't know, Classic GHZ seems to be quite linear, I can see only one alternate path, when the player in the video goes down instead of going up, but aside from that it doesn't seem to be an interesting level. Even the original GHZ1, one of the most linear levels in history, had more paths...

Unless they're actually doing it right, and they're not showing the alternate paths in the video to keep them as a surprise...
