  1. Who needs Mario when Amy does a better job at taking on platforming sections and is a better jumper. :P

    Anyway just tried it and while personally I'm not a Shadow fan, as far as game mechanics go I found this project to be quite interesting. Now the idea of either adding 2-D shooting mechanics might sound off, they could actually work considering that there numbers of Badniks present in the game actually justifies it (similar to the first Amy hack, which gives a slight hack-n-slash feel to the game)

    *also downloads latest version into the collection*

    thanks for your comment
    well as for the guns stuff, im still not sure about that myself, I'm not really sure how to program such an ability right now also for some reason I don't see Shadow using guns in Sonic 1 :P but having him using Chaos Control and chaos Spears could be interesting but still I lack the skills to program stuff like that

    It's hacks like this that take me back to when I first discovered the hacking scene, Johnny UK's Project Shadow hack blew me away.

    I love the animated title sprites, I know they're not the easiest thing in the world to sprite; but the finger flick does seem odd as I believe another member has pointed out.
    The actual Shadow sprites... Hmm... Don't get me wrong, I'm a friend of Gardow and I love his work; I just don't think they fit in with this hack. Whether or not it's because they're Sonic 3 based I'm not sure, but they just feel out of place. I also think some of the origin points have been missed slightly? Maybe it's my poor judgement but the walking frame seems a bit jumpy for some reason. oO;;

    I don't expect you to change them, after all; it is your hack.

    Other than my slight problem with the sprites I enjoyed playing this hack. It's great we're getting the 'X' in Sonic 1 hacks; they give a fresh feel to a game I'm more than over familiar with.

    Nice work.

    Thx for feedback.
    Yes, I believe the sprites are based on Sonic 3, but actually that's my own preference, since I like S3 sprites more than S1 sprites, and also I had to use an already made sheet because I was lazy to make my own Shadow sprites to be honest :P and from all the sheets I looked this one was the most decent I could find, no offense to the rest of artists who did sprites but in my opinion they could be better. So I had to go with this.
    Also I plan on slowing down the finger animation once I learn how to do it, I know it looks odd.
    And about the walking animation...it may be jumpy, im not sure either, all I did was replacing the sprites in the same position as Sonic's were, so I'm not sure. I might give it a try at repositioning them again soon.

    To toggle the animation, go to anim file obj0E. It works the same as the Sonic frames.

    May I suggest no animation for the title screen after the popup? Shadow seems like the kind of dude that would just stand there and be all "deal with it"

    If he isn't constantly blinking it may look better but no animation will look like she cheaped out on the title screen animation.

    How so? This is Shadow the "I don't give a frag about anyone or anything" Hedgehog. I think he'd be the one exception to this "rule"

    thanks for the suggestions guys, but I'm gonna leave the title animation like that because that's the way I like it, I appreciate all the suggestions and feedback and I'm doing my best but I think it's gonna stay like that. I tried to slow down the animation so I think it looks better now, just wait for the next revision
