I found some old tapes of me and my sister playing Sonic the Hedgehog games when we were kids. I am 23 now, so looking back at these is quite funny.
In terms of me not knowing how to get into that wall in the EHZ, I guess I still hadn't figured out the trick to that yet.
I'm glad to know that I liked the music of the classic Sonic games then just as I do now.

It seems I was at that point where I knew that I could go into the wall, but I just didn't know how to yet.
Of course, the trick is to go onto the high platform to the right. Once you step on it, if you go back down, you can then go into that wall.

This is so adorable! You guys were so cute! This made me reminisce about my childhood playing Sonic games and made me miss the 90's era. The ending where you two are playing next to each other is just plain adorable. I can totally see what you were trying to do, in 2 player mode I think getting into that hidden area to get the monitor is harder than in 1 player mode for some reason. The second video clip was funny because you were so into playing you didn't realize you were being recorded lol.

It was a lot like that in my household, except it'd end with my sister trying to strangle me with the Genesis controller's cable.

    Memories~

Of course, the better trick is to jump before you reach the spring.

Hehe this vid reminded my childhood too :D. I don't have any videos sadly but few pics I do where I play Sonic.

I only remember 1 funny memory, when me and cus played 2 player in Sonic 2, cus got stuck in the pit and he was soo angry, he hit the MD pad at the table and table got big stick of wood off.It was bounching on the edge :D

The sad thing is, no matter how much I play the classics now, I've become such a seasoned pro that I can never recreate that bittersweet experience of the first days of playing Sonic when I was absolutely shit. That's where all my fondest memories lie, spending as much time it takes me to complete the game today stuck on one tricky area, like them fucking Chemical Plant stairs!

Great video though! I see you used to play 2-player on your own as well. I did that too in the beginning because I was too frightened to tackle the real game.

Thats the first thing I thought as well! I kept expecting some announcer to come out be like "Do you like going really really fast?!"

Also, haha it seems those bowl cuts were on the rage in the early 90s I was victim to one as a kid too.

Seriously. I found a picture of myself in kindergarten, and I was totally rocking the bowl cut.

Also, Sonic 2 was just a friendly rivalry for my sister and I. When it came to Mario 3, it was (and still is!) an all out war.

She doesn't play video games as much as she used to, but we're still on equal footing there, and it feels nice to actually have a challenge.

    Trapped in my own thoughts.
Two stageplays, a screenplay, and an album
Your sister in that video reminds me so much of my own sister, who is only 4 now. Except probably less stubborn.

I used to try and get into that secret room with the life too. I found that the best way to do it is to fly at it from the left, as if you're doing a speedrun- usually I fly right into it.

I can't get into those other secret room areas in act 2 however. I have no idea how I'm meant to do it, I've tried everything, and it stumps me. I'm sure I used to be able to do it as a kid.

Aw, I wish my parents recorded us doing that. When I was your age, I couldn't get much farther than spring yard zone, so I'm impressed.

The first Sonic Game I played was Sonic Heroes, when I was 7. This conviced me to get Sonic Mega collection Plus, and I actually remember being somewhat dissapointed upon finding out it was 2D(Back then I thought games had always been as advanced as they were then), but I quickly got over it, and now I have quite a few memories getting as far as I could in each classic game.
