So, I wasn't particularly sure on whether or not I wanted to make a separate thread for this or just slap it into the existing Free Riders thread. Since this is an official soundtrack though, I figured I'd go ahead and make a thread. (Mods, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.)

Anyway, here's Break Free: Sonic Free Riders Original Soundtrack in 320 kb. mp3: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=X1LOAYQK

Stay tuned in the next week or so for my rip of the Sonic Colors soundtrack!

Not trying to be picky but since you prefer to stick to lossy formats, I'd suggest you try AAC (especially NeroAAC with Q1.0 since you've been doing CBR 320K all the time), which standard is designed to be the successor of MP3's and indeed has even superior quality while maintaining a similar compression rate and being also widely supported as it's quite identical to what we usually get from iTunes store.

    Thanks a lot anyway :)

I hate lossy encoded audio myself. There so many lossless alternatives out there, too. It seems pointless to use any lossy format. Hell, I appericate if download music services all went lossless.

Cool. Thanks a lot for doing this. I'll be throwing them up on the wiki in a few.

As for you guys wanting lossless? Buy the damn CD if you want it that badly. Be happy we even have as extensive an mp3 collection uploaded for everyone.

EDIT: God damn, Metropolis Speedway's music is catchy as hell.

This times infinity. At least Vrantheo had the courtesy to at least say thank you. Pretty much everyone else likes my rips, .mp3 or not; I only ever get a tiny subsection that bitches at me that I don't take the time to do a FLAC rip.

You know what they say. If you want something your way, do it yourself.

Thanks bro! You make such awesome CD rips.

Are you going to make cover scans as well?

Totally forgot to mention: I've added booklet scans and such to the album's VGMdb page: http://vgmdb.net/album/21988

Think you can reupload those? Seems that VGMDB resized them to just thumbnails.

It's because mp3 isn't even that horrible, and is used because it's small and it retains quality.

Unless you uploaded them this way, this is how I'm getting them.

There're lots of other even better lossy formats than MP3 around. Besides AAC which I mentioned not long ago, there's also Ogg Vorbis which also has decent quality and compression, and is open-source thus free from certain proprietary issues that some people may have trouble with when using formats like MP3 or WMA. Heck, even WMA (to be specific, WMA Pro) surpasses MP3 in certain fields.

Indeed I'm trying to lead this thread into more of technical discussions rather than moral arguments because, duh, contributions should be appreciated. People can comment and make suggestions, but don't expect egg in our beer. :colbert:

What the balls browser do you use? My IE8 is showing them at full size like it should. The pictures are all much bigger than that.

Try another browser, like IE or Firefox or something. They shouldn't be coming up that small.
