Sonic 2 LD

    The score is stored in packed BCD format at address $1EEB. The code that calculates the score is located at address $1EEE (label "Score_CalculateActTimeScore" in the disassembly).

    Assuming “other engine enhancements” means better ramps (or two way hoops?) surely doing levels first is a bit of a waste of time, as the level layouts would depend on the “engine enhancements”?

    I don't think the engine enhancements will change the level layouts. The loop code is separate and engaged at specific xy co-ordinates. I don't think it will be a major problem, unless I have no understanding of how complex these enhancements have become.

    which folder is that in?

    It's in file "src/s2.asm", line 3048. The score code disassembly still needs some work but I've commented a fair amount of it.

    Things are going somewhat smoothly. The major nuts and bolts are done, just some cosmetic changes to fix up. Haven't looked into the score thing yet, but hopefully that doesn't cause too much grief.

    Still going to be cutting it fine to get it out by wednesday, but I'm giving myself until midnight on the international dateline, so my friday morning is still technically November 24. :v:

    I'm tempted to post some screenshots, but I think I'll leave things as a surprise.

    I can't help but think some of you are getting way to over excited and will be disappointed by this.

    No disrespect to Doc Eggfan meant, it's a brilliant hack, probably the first major master system sonic hack ever.

    Ok, I stayed up last night determined to finish this, and because I'm a perfectionist it took me until the first rays of dawn, but I got it done on time. I was just going to post it and get a couple hours of sleep before work, but after putting all the effort into getting it done, I went to post it at 4am (GMT+11) the bloody site was down. I kept trying until I left for work at 9am and still no dice. And then, as soon as I get to work, I check and the site was back, but I couldn't get the rom up here until I got home.

    Anyways, here it is, and it's still November 24 somewhere.

    Okay.

    That was really damn cool, great art and conversions of the Genesis levels. Those spikes and fish are evil though. The boss edit (and Act 3 in general) was a pleasant surprise =P
    Looking forward to CPZ.

    Fantastic. good to see you have the Mashers mappings figured out and that Sonic has realised you can save time by not going around loops.
    I love the credits screen, and where you've hidden the emerald.

    There's some small things I noticed, Some frames of the ring animation have an orange centre, invincibility stars sometimes don't work when running into enemies causing you to lose your rings regardless and to be really picky:

    the skyline here would be better stretching right along, the two, this and the one on the level below are far enough apart for them not to be on the screen at the same time, it will look better in my opinion than it noticeably stopping here. But this is just purely cosmetic and will not benefit the game play at all.

    EDIT: shoes give you stars and speed but no invincibility, invincibility stars don't give you stars. the shoes are broken, they cycle between pictures of rings and shoes, they give stars.
