    Hello, My name is Taruko.
I'm very shy as usual so I never really post in community
forums. But I do, infact, know alot about sonic and the
hacking community thank's to Sonic Cult and our own Simon
    Wai!

But recently I got a copy of The Sonic CD 712 ISO down at
    Sonicstrike.net/users/sonicroms AKA Sonic Stuff
While I played through every last level and Special stage, I
noted the differences between this and the final:

1: Getting All timestones does NOT change all futures to
    good.

2: The Oil slicks ARE present! they do not affect game play
    in The special stage.

3: When you get to the special stage demo via waiting at the
title screen, you'll realize it's NOT a demo, you control it.
There's no affect to game play. ALSO you always start the
Special stages on the far corner on the slow down dirt stuff,
    not already on the road.

4: The RAM data screen is different

5: Time attack screens are up to date but selecting to play a
level in Time ATK locks up the game

6: Blue Ring Monitor is now used like a ring shield, You can
take 2-3 hits without losing rings. It's hard to find though.
when you break it it makes a finish-post-spinning-esque SFX

7: Time Monitor via The Debug causes other monitors to stop
blinking, I don't know what else it does. I'm pretty sure it
    DOESN'T stop rings from spinning.

8:The SNCBNK files now include what I believe is past music,
Check ICEKnights page. He uses 510 beta which does NOT
include past beta tracks. EDIT: Scratch that, 510 ISO doesn't have a trace of any SNCBNK files....

Check his music file names. They're
    listed like this:

SNCBNK1A - Present Palmtree panic Beta??
    SNCBNK1C - Good Future Beta??
    SNCBNK1D - Bad Future Beta??

in the 712 ISO it includes SNCBNK*B.bin in the list now.
ALONG with A,C, and D. in the final Japanese ISO I have, it
only list the past tracks and B1 B2 SNCBNK boss tracks.
If I had an ISO editing .exe I could alter it to play the
other beta(?) tracks instead of past tracks on the 712 like
    ICEKnight did.

(note: The past music auto plays, it's included with ISO.
    other tracks are ???)

This NOW leads me to believe that the SNCBNK were previously
like the past music, to be included with the ISO. But since
it uses lower quality music, they decided to make the tracks
seperate or something, I don't have the REAL DEAL SEGA CD
version, just the ISO for it but maybe there was a 2 disc
install or something for the MP3 tracks? which are of course
the highest we can expect, thus making the game that much
better compared to .bin music! SINCE in the final the past
SNCBNK tracks were found, and in both the final a 712, the
past music is included in the ISO and play pefectly fine with
out the other tracks, The SNCBNK*B.bin are Obviously the past
music used in the final. "DUH" So you can see why I'd think
that the other tracks were to follow this example! I mean if
you listen to the past music, it doesn't sound as detailed as
the MP3 files you download seperatly for the ISO. If I'm
anyware near correct that would make ICEknights prediction
about them being beta tracks SEMI-absolete!

AND to top the doom cake with candles:
I will beg on one knee for ICEKnight to let out the secret on
how to convert the SNCBNK**.BIN to .MP3. THEN we can see the
    TEMPORAL truth of SONIC CD!!

    Makes sence? No?

(note: Sorry guys, I found nothing about R2 *cry*)

9: The STM movie files for the good, bad endings, and the
opening are all presnet on the rom but none of them worked
for me (except bad end, I got all time stones so I wouldn't
    know)
10: In The 712 ISO, it lacks the file DUMMY(0-9).MMD Does anyone know their purpose? (it lacks other files too, I'm just to lazy to check.)

Here's what I think each file represents:
.MMD = Initiation file, Launches a new event in the game. Usually launches gameplay (IE R11A__.MMD = Palmtree Act 1 present R31A__.MMD = Collision present act 1 ect..)
.BIN = Multipurpose, Mostly used for Music and SFX
    .STM = Movie files

Then theres a Few TXT files in there that contain stuff.
    920-Final ABS.TXT says, "MEGA-CD Action Game"
510-712 ABS.TXT says, "Abstracted by hhhhhh" With garbage text ,"????????????????L??????B"

    920-Final BIB.TXT is blank
510-712 BIB.TXT says, "Bibliographiced by abcdefg" with garbage text ,"???Q???????????L??????B"

    920-Final CPY.TXT says, "© 1993 SEGA"
510-712 CPY.TXT says, "Copyright by SEGA enterprises" with more garbage saying ,"???????????????L??????B?I??L??sega????????????j"

    With that said, I conclude...

Darn.... Well, I have alot of stuff I can dish out that all has supported and logical reasoning that I haven't seen on many major sites before...
Like I know the way to unlock The Sonic and Tails Drunken sprites in game play and the truth behind their purpose! And a prediction about the pallet swap level, though I bet that's been covered.... did you know that under the soundtest/ option menu in Sonic Crackers that if you select 00FF it disables all sounds from the game? I'm loaded with little tid bits of info! Just not enough utilities.....

How about the, "SONIC CD ISO WITH MUSIC INSTRUCTION THINGY!"

It's really annoying on the Sonic Stuff forums how many n00bs don't read the faqs and ask the question of, "There's No music, help me!"

So for you dying to play Sonic CD with the music, read this!

    1:Go to Sonicstrike.net/users/sonicroms
    2: Clicky the ISO link
    3: Unzip ISO with WINRAR
4: Download gens, MEGA CD BIOS, and the version of Sonic CD you want!
    5: Go to music section
6: Download and Install Download accelerator plus <- <- REQUIRED for MUSIC// Download EVERY track from the sonic CD RBAs (red book audios) via Download accelorator (www.speedbit.com)
7: This part's tough and important, pay attention!
Rename EVERY track in the proper order to match the ISO it matches: (I.E. IF ISO = SCD_JPN.ISO then Track 03 = SCD_JPN 03.mp3) most newbs fail by here
    -----
    now!
8: open gens and find and select the tool to configure yer BIOS FILES
9: Browse and place the correct BIOS in the correct place
10: Set CPU to proper the country (IE If SCD_JPN select Japanese) or select auto detect
    11: Fire em up

    Hope this has helped!
    Stupid Typos....

SNCBNKs aren't lower quality than the standard CD audio tracks. In fact, in the Japanese and European versions, the CD audio tracks were basically WAV conversions of SNCBNKs. The only reason they did that was so you could play the tracks in a CD player. (The U.S. tracks were recorded directly to CD audio format.)

Yeah, everyone already knows how to do that, but it's good to see someone trying to do their own research.

Download accelerators are not required. In fact they suck and you deserve to be beheaded for using them.

Quick Man: Quite contrary to your belief, IT seems numerous amounts of people had trouble downloading it without Download Accel. Like when you right clicked and selected Save target as it would give you sonicstuff.htm or something instead.
Meh.. I personally don't like that method either.

Either way, I can't start the REAL hacking until I have some utilities.
I.E. A ISO editor because winrar can only edit zip and rar archives...
I would also need some help with the Hexadecimal system but I'm sure that can't be too hard.

Thanks for the support though, I'll try my best to help out.

WinRAR can "unzip" ISO files too. Or atleast my copy can.

I know. But I can't play the iso if all the files are seperate! Nor does it allow me to add or rename the files in the exsisting ISO! it's really annoying....

So what you could do is unzip the files, edit, then put back in the ISO. Failing that, hex it.

Making an ISO is as simple as burning a CD.

Except when that doesn't include the Sega CD boot sector and security information. :(

See http://www.retrodev.com/segacd.html for information on creating bootable Sega CD ISOs.
