Linkara Reviewed "Sonic Live"

Best ending I could've thought of. Cant wait to see more of his story as well as plenty more Power Rangers references!

 

The sad thing is, I used to like that comic (yes, that specific issue). It really was insipid, looking back on it... I mean, like hell the games actually took place in the SatAM world! Just look at Eggman, fer Christ's sake, the character model is waaaaay off. That, and the kids were pretty damn useless...

 

I just finished watching it. It was a great episode. It was great seeing him rip apart that piece of shit. Can't wait to see what his next episode is.

 

I've never actually read any of the Sonic comics before really (just things about them and shit), so it was interesting to see this guy review one of the worst ones. He pretty much was spot on about everything and he's a pretty funny guy. I like the cameos of Spoony and Nostalgia Critic as well at the end (but maybe that's in every episode, this is the only video of Ontop The 4th Wall I've seen).

Anyways, great stuff. Perhaps the thread title should be changed since Linkara has actually reviewed the comic now.

 

So tell me: Should I go buy a beer and play the drinking game, where everytime he tries to make himself look cool by bashing furries, I take a swig? Or does he actually get through this by not bringing them up?

Edit: fucking hell. I apparantly don't need the beer.

 

I've got a better idea. Everytime someone says something stupid in the Sonic 4 thread, have a swig. You'll be pissed in minutes.

 

So I watched this, and I just don't think he's my kind of guy for reviewing. Maybe it's because I don't like comics that much, but he just extremely spazzy all the time which got sort of annoying. He was very funny at a few points though, and brought in a lot of good points and seemed knowledgeable about how comics themselves work and how they are typically half-assed at some story line points and etc. It's cool that, besides the horrible psuedo real life transitions, he really didn't make fun of the art style, despite it looking pretty dumb in comparison to anything else. It was enjoyable at the least

 

Ha! That was great. The comic was stupid and nonsensical, but the artwork's fairly spot-on. Also, I learned what the level select code is for the first time.

 

Yeah... I don't think people generally bash furries to "be cool." But I haven't seen any other Atop the Fourth Wall episodes so I dunno maybe I'm wrong here


I specifically remember this comic being disappointing, and being frustrated with how little the writers apparently knew about video games. Finding out later it was Penders' own son and niece that he inserted in there not only made it make more sense, but also made it more pathetic. This video actually brought back a fair amount of memories, and not ones that I particularly needed to remember. I wonder if I still have Sonic Live sitting around somewhere...

 

Why did this make me laugh so much

 

The interesting thing is, one review, he let his girlfriend do the review that he wrote and it was far more durable than any of the episodes he is in.
If Linkara would just chill the fuck down for a couple secondss, he'd be a great reviewer.

 

Favorite part of the review right there. (Oh, and just a hint, it was Linkara playing both Sonic and Robotnik) I had read somewhere that the reason Linkara initially wasn't going to review any Sonic Comics was because he was afraid the Internet would bash him to pieces if he did. Oh, and to bring out an old tired meme, Sonic really needs to have a seat over there around the end.

 

I'm not at a computer with a good enough connection to play the video, so what is his stance on the regular series?

 

I don't know, Linkara have gotten really awful, as has most TGWTG people.
I'm not counting those who were awful from the start, but it's at a state where I can count the people I still watch on one hand.

Good choice for the review.

He doesn't go into much about the series as a whole (he stated in the previous video he wasn't going to do a bunch of continuity research just to riff one issue). He does mention that he didn't feel like the other two stories in the LIVE comic were worth ripping on because they weren't bad though.

Personally, I think NC and Linkara are kind of annoying, but funny. In my opinion, part of the reason for NC's bad episodes is that he just reviews a lot of really boring movies. There just isn't that much to make fun of. Linkara has an annoying voice, but I usually laugh at at least some of his jokes every episode. From my experience. Spoony seems to be the only consistently good person on TGWTG. This is probably because he puts more time into his episodes and doesn't try to stay on a totally strict schedule like the other two. I usually can't stand the other guys.

 

NC to me really isn't annoying, its more like he's loosing his touch. His recent batch of reviews have all been shit I've never even heard of before. I think he should take more requests, and at least find a movie that get's a majority vote or something. Linkara on the other hand, well... comics aren't my thing, so kinda pointless in watchin his videos, even when I try to give them a shot, I stop the video after the first 5 minutes and make a =/ face.

Spoony is my all time favorite, specilaly his "Wrestle Wrestle" videos that he does.... HILARIOUS!!! Brad (The Cinema Snob) and Angry Joe are the other two favorites of mine.
