Fuzz's emulator is still in beta stages and is not yet suitable for release to the general public.

I'm planning a beta release for my beta testers later this week, and a public beta this weekend. Patience. :P

It's good to know someone has already found a way to show layers. Maybe later, thanks :(

I hate to be the barer of bad news, but LOst, you NEED to release the source code. Gens source might be available for download, but it's licensed until the General Public License (aka GPL). The GPL states that anyone can take this code and modify, and redistrubite, but they must redistrube the modified sources. Just ti point out, the code you added also needs to be released, but it's protected under the GPL. If you don't release the code, you could be sued by the Gens programming team for GPL violation, and I don't think you wanty to see a lawsuit :-P

Yes, as late as I am on replying, I don't think you're quite correct, Sonic McTails, I mean, LOst isn't exactly in danger of a lawsuit, as long has LOst (can someone please tell me his/her gender? I mean, I'm assuming male but you can never be quite sure.) But, in all honesty, I think the Gens team has enough brains to just be polite enough to ask the release of the code, and then LOst would release it. Kind of simple. It'd be kind of a waste of money on both parts for a law suit.

By the way, I like the emulator. It's kind of annoying losing the window if you happen to minimize it though. Obviously, S3 and S3&K support would be nice, but hey, whenever you get around to it I suppose ;)

    Nice job.

LOst's emulator's features are possible because certain structures in RAM in S1, S2, SCD and S2K are known and documented. These structures change in S3/S3K and so these games are unsupported.

You're absolutely 100% wrong. Why? The GPL allows you the right to change the program by means of its source code. The source YOU change, and only the lines you change become your property. The rest of the source code is still part of the original Gens. You can release your code under your own license, but the original, unmodified Gens code is still under the GPL.

The only thing you're required to do is:

No, that's where you wrong. Your work is a dervived work of the orginial, but even if your own code is orginial, he still can't releaseit w/o the source. The GPL doesn't allow linking against non-GPL projects, so he still has to release his code anyway. I've actually looked up the law in this regrad, I know what you can do w/ the GPL, and what can't you. And I know that the GPL requires ALL of the source to be released because a. it's a drieved work, b. you have to link against the GPLed code to get this so even if it wasn't a dervived work, you still get caught up in it

He is absolutely 100% completely right:

    http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#G...rcePostedPublic

Now, had I not read this below, I would've discontinued DebuGens and convieniently had the destroyed the source code and executables, as I'm not one to release beta source code:

    http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#WhoHasThePower

Now, if Stef wants to beef with anyone about it, let HIM. But, personally, I really don't think he cares. If he does let HIM complain about it. Don't do the complaining for him.
