Well, I stand by what I said, I asked the questions because too many people were bitching about them, so I decided to ask them to just shut people up for Sega's sake.

But anyway, what are your thoughts on Sonic 4?

    .......

    *Didn't know Balough speaked Spanish*

Damn it, now I'm going to imagine him riding around the desert with a Sombrero, along with his trusty side-kick, Pikachu in a Sombrero. :(

All I could get was at around a minute and a half in he was discussing the fan feedback, along the lines of physics changes...but I'm sure there are members here who speak Spanish fluently, as opposed to me, who barely scraped by Spanish class.

Spax, there wasn't necessarily anything wrong with the questions you asked. The thing that is making everyone cringe is that you did the following things:

    1. You kept interrupting Ken
    2. You kept shoving the microphone in his face. He should not have had to reach out his hand and push your arm down more than once.
    3. Toward the end of the interview, you were doing more talking than he was. Just because you somehow managed to grift your way into E3 doesn't mean you get to hold SEGA execs hostage and bore them with your personal ideas about how to improve their product. It was obvious you offended him with some of your suggestions, especially about the intro movie. The dude works for SEGA dude, he knows what he's doing.

That's the main stuff that stuck out in my mind. Just a lack of professionalism and restraint. If everyone interviewed like you do, Ken would never get to sleep. You make the point that we're disrespectful on this forum, but I don't think anyone has physically detained RubyEclipse and forced him to listen to our ideas.

Added. Ditch the persona, it's not "unique" or "self-representative". It's just disturbing.

If there was one question I would want to be asked in an interview, it would be:

'If this is Sonic 4, than why not build it off something with similar physics to S3K, as opposed to Rush?'

I mean, I know why, but I would just love to see they're reaction/excuse. :v:

Coming to grips with the fact that I've almost been here 20 years
I honestly wish that Sonic had never moved to 3D. Then Sega wouldn't have to deal with catering to so many different fan preferences. That's what I thought was genius about Sonic 4: Make a separate game for the older fans... But it seems like they're trying to attract newer fans as well (non-classic Sonic, homing attack). Honestly I think it seems like they're trying too hard to please all of the people all the time, which just can't be done. It's just a mess. And you know this game will get the smackdown from reviewers for being too similar/too different, regardless of what they do in the next episodes. It's cool that they're listening to fan feedback, but which fans are they listening to? That's what worries me.

My two cents. Sorry if any of this was brought up, I haven't read this thread thoroughly.

Main points of the Spanish Interview:

The game starts after Sonic & Knuckles.
All of you like about Sonic in 2D are in this game.
The woman asked in which point the developing is the game an why the game was delayed. The guy answered: Is because the game was leaked by the fans and they resolved to fix all the bad points the fans pointed, the physics are now exactly like Sonic 1 and 2 and the levels are slightly modified. The game is now what the fans want, now the developing phase is close to beta.
The game will be released in middle autumn. When you end the game with all emeralds, you will see a different ending and you will see a little about the Episode II. The woman asked how many episodes will Sonic 4 have, but the guy refused to answer, he only said: I know where the game ends, but I only can assure that will have a Episode II.

  13. Wow... Just wow... this is the kind representation we get? Spax's interview was so disrespectful that Sega may want to un-fix some of the things they just tweaked out of spite. XD Just kidding... but what if! I seriously felt bad for Ken Balough, though. :(

Yes being a PR means you have to regurgitate the same words over and over again but it's a job. I work in sales/retail and it is very similar.

Hmm....that's very good to hear, if true. Still curious as to whether or not they've addressed the forced curling and uncurling though.

Edit: Well seeing as I have no knowledge in the ways of spanish, apparently the translation is paraphrased iffily. Trash, please.

Don't even fall for it Retro. Please. We gave this game so many chances, it's never going to reach the standards of the classic games, and the physics are certainly not going to get magically better. I refuse to believe anymore.

    THE DREAM IS DEAD.

    Life.
Considering the broken translation in the rest of that post, it sounds like nothing more than poor paraphrasing. Thus, I call bullshit. Seriously, it's the same PR we've been getting, now in Spanish. Nothing more. :colbert: EDIT: Nvm, ninja'd.

Why is he so goddamned loose-lipped when speaking in Spanish? By my count, this is the first time Sega's even acknowledged the leak, and we're still waiting for them to drip feed us details on the engine tweaks. Did he think he wouldn't get caught? Is he just lying through his teeth under the assumption that there is no centralized Spanish Sonic fanbase to tread on eggshells with? Or is it just national favoritism at work? Oh, Ken!

He doesn't refer to the leak directly. He tip toed around it like he always does.

And at no point does he say the physics are exactly like Sonic 1 and 2. He just says they were improved.

As someone else mentioned, same story different language. There is no new info here.
