Wasn't there originally supposed to be a boulder chasing Sonic in Green Hill MD? Now picture a boulder on the left-hand side of the screen in Bridge Zone Act 2.

On my butt in front of the computer. Where else?
I'm working on working up the willpower to work on learning how to make my own Sonic fangames. Not quite there yet.
I like the Bridge Zone and Jungle Zone level themes, although I could do without the auto-scroll and Contra Syndrome in their respective Act 2 stages.

I've actually been hoping someone would design an extended Sonic 1 hack that places a Bridge Zone stage between Green Hill and Marble Zone, and a Jungle Zone between Spring Yard and Labyrinth. I can't help but think the game's pacing would be better for the addition of additional faster/medium-speed stages like those ones.

For what its worth, the game gear version of Jungle Zone act 2 is massively improved because the screen can scroll back down. I'd say it's the only improved stage in the entire game gear version.

Really? Thanks for that, now I know to play the Game Gear version instead of the Master System version.

Er, I wouldn't recommend this. The SMS version is superior in nearly every regard I've found, save Jungle Zone Act 2. The bigger screen makes it much easier to play, the actual Sonic sprite is much better, and the few levels that have layout changes are better on the SMS version, noticeably Labyrinth Zone (which is entirely different in both games). Also, the bridge Zone boss is much easier in the SMS version.

It's already being done, OrdosAlpha and myself are about 50% of the way through finishing it, and it's based on the S2 engine - Sonic 1 Remix

Oh, awesome. I'll keep an eye out for that. Anything besides Bridge and Jungle being added?

I remember Sonic 1 Remix! I was just looking back at it two or three days ago and wished it was finished because of how awesome it was... by the way does that mean the title screen on S1Remix is the same one as shown in the Retro article? Because it looks like an amazing arrangement for a title screen :v:

Anywho, BOT: This was a really good read, and I really like your pointers as they make a lot of sense.

Jungle, Bridge, Sky Base and one or two extra ones just for the hell of it.

This is likely true. I might be able to get ahold of some evidence of this soon.

That'd be the find of the century! Sonic 3 BETA is one thing, Sonic Adventure BETA would be amazing as well, but Sonic 1? Who knows how differently the game could have played at an early stage! Imagine if someone could get their hands on an early version right after the switch from Feel to Sonic!

Sonic 1 beta is one of those dreams I hope of seeing before I die :P but anything DRX seems to get his hands on is gold anyway.

Another possibility for Bridge Zone and Jungle Zone is that they're both earlier versions of Green Hill Zone. I believe it was said in an interview (from Sonic Jam?) that GHZ was in development for a year and was redesigned several times.

Please can you tell us more information about this.... Do you need funds to help secure it?
