(If I'm posting in the wrong forum feel free to move it)

It's not beyond my expectation that there are lots of people who customize their machines with stuff about our hedgehog. Wallpapers, cursors, app skins and so on. For now I'll just talk about the sounds. If you feel interested we might later expand the topic into some other aspects, like "how about designing a Sonic theme for XP/Vista/7/Mac/Linux/all the OS debates"...

It's indeed not too hard just to make a sound scheme. (I can already imagine some noises bumping around.) But the important point is to decide which sound effects fit the most with certain system events. (For instance I'm not even quite sure where the Ring Bling should be put.)

Let's share some ideas and maybe even have some collaboration projects. It's always more fun to do fun stuff together.

I used to have one a while ago... A LOOOOOONG while ago XD

If I recall correctly, the Window Maximize sound was the jump, Window Minimize was the spin, Minor Error was skidding, Major Error was ring loss, Critical Error was the death noise.... Can't think of any more.

EDIT - Wait, yes I do. Low Battery was the air warning and Critical Battery was the drowning sound.

It'd be nice to see something like this done. Perhaps basing it off the window styles in All-Stars Racing?

I had a bunch of Sonic sounds once, like Max mentioned. But holy hell were they ever annoying. Just don't try it with voice clips.

I can see a couple of voice clips working. For example, Shadow's "Damn" when there's an error of some level XD

Yes, and I'm sure "Watch out. You're gonna crash. Ah!" will go perfectly with a critical error.

Sonic 06's and both Riders' UI also look good. Besides, I was also thinking about monitors as min/max/close.

"Yes! The Computer Room!" for boot-up lolololol.

Monitors? Unless you were making your windows look like zones, they probably wouldn't fit in.

Indeed their shapes are also a bit too weird to be there.

Taking some Classic Sonic into consideration we might also do some Sonic 2/3&K title cards boot-screens?

This is the best idea I've heard all week. Done and done on my computer.

For those who never forget this: SEEEEEEEEEEGAAAAAAAAAA!

(Personally found it a bit "scary" as the start-up sound though.)

Actually I had this as the startup on my old PC. Not set it on this one for same reason I haven't done much customisation yet - 7's standard stuff is still a novelty =P

As anyone who has talked to me on skype can tell you, one of my sound schemes is a blend of Sonic and Transformers sounds. Can't be bothered to list them all right now, but there's the transformation sound for maximize/minimize, the SA2 menu sounds for menu popup and selection, and the cash register sound for closing a program.

Also Empty Recycle Bin is Shadow shouting "VANISH"

I wonder if there's any setting for any search-related function, since then we can apply "where's that DAMN F*shot*".

  16. Same. My sounds are all SA2-based, as are my desktops.

...anyone have a good-quality version of the titlecard sound (warping metal followed by sword slash), by any chance?

I guess we can find it in some ADXes?

BTW who's interested in the font of the HUDs in Sonic 1~3&K? That serves well for a clock pretty much.

I love my Sonic sound schemes. <3 When I log on to windows, it's the new Sega chant from Sonic 4, the restore down and the exit Windows sound is the cash register sound , the minimize sound is Super/Hyper transformation from S3K (which is my favorite sound effect from that game), the menu pop-up sound is the sfx that plays after you get all the rings in a special stage, and the menu command sound is the exit Special stage sound from S1. Also the Restore Down sound is the Continue sfx.

I had a Sonic sound scheme on my old Windows 95 computer, before it died on me. For the life of me, though, I can't remember which sound I used for what.

I manually recorded all the sounds off my Genesis with an audio cable and Sound Recorder. Old school!

I don't have a sound scheme on my new computer, though. They get annoying rather quickly.

Not entirely related, but I remember The Sonic Stadium having a sonic theme for Winamp.
