  3. A real Sonic 3D fangame is not too far off based on that video!!!

    Excellent work guys! Maybe now you could get Sonic to do a bouncer animation when he hits a bouncer...

    Looks very impressive, yes. The one thing I don't like is the "FM"-like jump sound, as seen in Sonic CD, but I know many other people are fans of that (to the point they even use the "improved" PSG option in Gens ;_;) so I'm not going to start yet another fight on a thing which is just a matter of preference.
    The important thing is that the engine seems solid and working, and that's awesome :)

    It looks cool and all but watching videos of the engine's gameplay it seems... slippery.

    It's not a problem on your guy's half, though, and it's probably not a bad thing. I guess I'm going to have to play for myself to see how it controls.
     
  6. I read your description. Am I to understand Project FreeRunner won't make use of xml for stage data? Or have you just not finished coding it yet? I hope everything does not get hard coded into the exe.

    I like where the model is going but I had a few quirks with it so I gave this quick edit ago to better show what I think it should look like (like I said, crappy MSPaint edit. No it doesn't look pretty it's mainly just to give an idea). One thing that I didn't like about this model, the SonicBlitz model, or that model that you guys all collectively made for shits and gigs claiming that it was teh ultimate Sonic model and it should have been used in Sonic 4, was that there was not enough eye ridge in the middle. I don't know where this idea is coming from, as if you look at these examples:

    There is a significant brow. This is present in the American artwork as well, with more ass face and eyebrow emphasis however. The eyes also weren't wide enough. I'm basing this off the Sonic 3 artwork mainly btw, so this doesn't exactly hold for the other 2. Also I think the ears should be more even on all sides, rather than the tall isosoles triangle look you had. I changed the pupils as well, they seemed a bit too tall, so I just cropped off part of it.

    Also Sonic just looks lifeless without a smile so I threw that in there.

    Everything else is spot on. Nice work.

    Slightly offtopic: I swear I've seen that level you're doing these videos on (The large one) elsewhere on Youtube, but I can't find a download anywhere for it. Am I just being an idiot, or what? :(

    It comes with the base Blitzsonic engine, v.02 or something? Can't exactly remember the number to the version, but it's one of them. I have problems with finding a link to the bare engine with it myself.

    Anyways, like said, the stage switching is coming along nicely. Were already working on a menu for the game, and a titlescreen. Now, I know there's a small brow that needs adding, and maybe Jeztac will get to work on that, but for now he's working on a Tails model, which is looking rather good right now (but won't be shown yet).

    And important notice: we need a better name for Project FreeRunner, as PFR is only the temporary title for the game; a codename per se, like "Project Needlemouse" was for Sonic 4. So.. We need that better name if we are to make that titlescreen. So I'm giving you guys a job: MAKE a better name; because I don't have any good ideas. Here are the only things I could come up with:

    Sonic Machspeed
    Sonic FreeRunner
    Sonic Mach Adventure


    See? That's all I got. Not too good of suggestions either, if you ask me. So, make some ideas. We need them.

    Yeah, Shadic, that's from the base engine, but I myself have problems trying to find a link to it.

    We are not going to worry about the brow just yet, because we have several things in store: making a Tails model, ripping/etc. modern Sonic models from SASASR, making a title screen and making a menu (and to a lesser extent adding parkour stuff to the gameplay, which WILL be in before the game is finished). Also, Dragon, why would it matter if we move it to a .exe file that runs off itself instead of outside files? Because the members of the team will have a modifiable copy of the game, of course.

    And last thing: we need a better name for the game. PFR is a codename, just as Needlemouse was for Sonic 4. But since I can't think up any good titles, I'm leaving it up to you guys. Make a better name than Peoject FreeRunner (remember to include Sonic in the title), and I'll round them all up and see which one to use/build off.

    Very yes I forgot to comment on Sonic's gray skin but you fixed it quite nicely.

FreeRunner will still use xml for object data & such, but the stage models not be loaded through xml, also (as far as I know, so we won't be seeing "hacks" aka recolors) everything will be packed into an exe at the end. But I guess (like azukara already said) the team members will get a "moddable" copy of the game.

    Sonic Adventure Boost? I dunno, Mach Adventure sound nice too. :P

    That Tails model looks nice, very much looking forward to seeing that in the game. :P

    Sonic looks great, Tails looks like it's coming along fine....now we need knuckles...and if we're gonna add other characters...I'd say the chaotix (including mighty and ray) or resurrect an unused character like honey the cat...no one had bothered to bring her back...she has a nice fan base..but basically I'm saying...no characters past Sonic Adventure...but that's just what I think...If we're gonna keep sonic classic, we should use characters that old sonic fans remember and new Sonic fans barely know...but like I said, it's just an opinion.
     
  17. It's cool having some other characters in it, but its still a sonic game, and not "SONC AND ALL HIS RANDOMR 1223 FRNDS AND RECAWLERS!!!11!!!!". I you know what I mean. It's not that I don't want to only have sonic, but its still a game about sonic.

    Hm, I think a good name should depend also on the kind of levels you're going to have (e.g. "Sonic Jungle" wouldn't be a good name if you plan to have city levels).

    I know what you mean...but I said IF...and IF we did, they would have a minor (yet important) role I'm guessing, because there's nothing wrong with a nice supporting cast, but like SA2 I was very frustrated because I found myself playing as tails and knuckles more than sonic....

    I like to play as other characters when I beat the game, but sonic should be the primary focus in games. other characters should be like...extra just for replay value I guess...
