I love the look of the movie, but I can't stand the Dub!
Anyone got Jap/Subbed version? I've been looking everywhere, I just want to enjoy this movie how it should be enjoyed. =P

The dub's pretty annoying, but its alright once you get used to it.

But sadly I do not have a Japanese dub.

  3. I wish this shit would come out on DVD (again) There was an entry to the Wikipedia article indicating it was going to get a special edition on DVD, but then it got edited out. With Shout releasing every other possible bit of Sonic animation other than Sonic X, surely they can get the rights to do this.

bah you people are haters :P The english voices in this are fine, and certainly more tolerable than anything they've used in the games since Sonic Adventure

Doesn't the regular DVD version have japanese audio? Isn't it available anywhere for like ten bucks?

I enjoyed the english voices. I think I would have enjoyed the newer games if they kept those voice actors too. They have lots of personality.

Fuck ya'll, the english voice cast was brilliant. When I think of what Classic Sonic sounds like, I think of Martin Burke.

  7. I own the first release of the OVA from ADV films (the blue box art). And yes it has both Japanese audio and English Audio..... And I too enjoy the english voices, except for metal sonic's which doesn't sound evil enough.

I still want an OST release of the soundtrack.

If I knew how to make a working MKV file of the movie, with both Japanese and English audio, I would. Sadly it's not somthing I've looked into yet (but have been meaning to...)
It's either that or I seed the Pal DVD as an ISO/NRG file. But only after Saturday when I get my 20MB connection setup.

A subbed version would be great, I loved the Japanese voices! And a soundtrack... Do want!
The dub voices are great, aside from the first time you hear Tails' voice, it hits you in face like a brick with a blocked nose.
Robotnik's voice is just so perfect though! I wish they'd had such quality in voices for the modern Sonic games D: Sonic's modern voice irritates me so much, I loved his voice in the OVA.

  12. Didn't Sonic HQ (or whatever it was called) have some of the soundtrack at one point in time?

And besides, if you listened to the Jap voices, you'd miss the simple joy of audible:

I loved the english voices in the OVA, actually prefer them to the japanese voices.

I'm tempted to get the sub and dub and see which one I prefer.

Maybe it'll be one of those few animes that I like the English dub over the Japanese.

    Like Bebop.

No because it was never released. Clean songs do exist though since two songs are used in the DVD menus.

I gotta say I love the voices in the English version as well. Martin Burke needs to come back as Sonic just as Edwin Neal needs to be Dr. Robotnik, and whoever did Tails and Knuckles need to come back. Those voices are legendary. :colbert:

And although we've never had a rip of the OST (although don't we all wish we had one ;_;) I've heard people redo alot of the songs in a rather accurate fashion. I don't have any links on me right now though..

I have the Japanese version with French subs. And I have a document with all the dialogue transcribed into English. All in all, the only English voices I've heard is from the STRANGE, ISN'T IT lines I've found on the internet.

    Trapped in my own thoughts.
Two stageplays, a screenplay, and an album
For good measure, here's a picture of Knuckles wearing a hat.

THAT IS THE SECOND BEST THING ABOUT THIS FILM. The best is when his hat catches fire.

Shut up the dub is awesome. :(

Azukara: EXACTLY! OVA Sonic and OVA Eggman were the greatest, but I can only see them being attached with the japanese classic Sonic image. Maybe if SEGA hadn't already messed up Sonic 4. >_>
