How would you redesign Sonic the Hedgehog?

My bad. Sarcasm doesn't translate well on the internet, though. Wrap it in some <sarcasm> tags next time to be sure, k?

Anyway, for my suggestions:

In all the views, Sonic's shoulders look like they've been inflated with an air pump or something. De-exaggerate that a bit.

On the back view, there seems to be too much space between the back spines and the tail. Maybe lower the spines or add an extra one in the middle? And his tail would probably look better pointing downward.

In the front view, Sonic has a weird cat smile on his face. I don't think that suits his personality at all. Also, Sonic's eyes look too shiny and not quite long enough. They look fine in the side view, though.

Aside from the aforementioned shoulder problem, everything looks good from the side.

 

Anyone remember those Chronic the Hedgehog shirts some people would wear?

I'm pretty sure this is the best possible design for Sonic the Hedgehog.

Really, I fucking love those designs... It's almost like some amalgamation of Altered Beast and Pokemon.

That's exactly what I was thinking, the characters resemble characters from the Mega Man X series. :v: They also reminded me of when Capcom would re-design Mega Man and the Robot Masters to make them look less anime-ish for the west on the box art and in Nintendo Power articles. That was a bad idea I thought, they looked horrible but your drawing doesn't look horrible I like it. ^^

 

Hi, I'm new to the forum.
I was really really impressed with the collab Sonic manipulation that you guys put together. Though the inital one was hilarious, it had me in stitches.
The most recent manip is almost exactly how I would want sonic to look in a new game.
It inspired me to take the concept even furthur. Anyway, I hope you like it, critisicm is welcomed. I had fun doing this. Great forum btw.
