I was just thinking the same thing. I'm really hoping to see Sega stop dragging there feet with Sonic, and actually do something great with him. God knows its been long over due.

I remember when I went to Alton Towers as a kid, the Toyland boat ride thing, with the game room! It had a big statue of Sonic holding a gamepad and a bunch of TV screens with various games playing. Needless to say, that was my favourite part.

Its probably some old roller coaster they pulled out of the rubble where SEGA World Sydney/UK used to be.

I'm so sorely tempted to go pay a visit to Alton Towers now and check out the hotel and the ride! I bet they're so cool.

    Dear lord what is that

They should have a game with that design, THEN even I would call it lanky and awkward

But... Does the 'coaster play the toxic caves theme music during the ride? If not, then it's not worth riding. :colbert:

Seriously though. It's nice to see some crazy Sonic merchandising again like the 90s, but this doesn't top the hillarity of the Halo 3 ferris wheel for me. That was just strange. But, who knows. Maybe we'll start with a roller coaster, the Sonic/Sega ride trend will kick in and maybe Sega World will return in London and replace the Rainforest Café that's currently sitting in its place! (No offense to Rainforest Café, just noticed that was sitting in the same place as Sega World last time I went to the one in London) although, that's a hell of a long shot that I doubt even a gambling addict won't bet on.

Pffft, forget this. Bring back Segaworld London. Now that was fun.

  9. I can say I was on that ride BEFORE Sonic came along :P

I'll have to get myself to Alton Towers and see what its like.

Oh get over it you :colbert:

Hopefully something like this comes to America one day. Sans the mutant Sonic costumes.

This. The new Trocadero is good but half of it is missing which sucks.

It's nice to see a bit of Sonic mania in Alton Towers, shame the rollercoaster itself doesn't look too fast and awesome.

Anyone up for spending lots of money on those useless claw grabbers? Just to get myself a big Knuckles plushie >.<

You do have to wonder just what treasures lurk up that escalator blocked by the vending machine, don't you? =P

I read a humorous article about this ride in The Times yesterday. Apparently the revamp has been stalled due to a squirrel who insists on riding it during tests! It has been nicknamed Sonic (rather than Ray), because of his "maverick nature". Indeed.

An aside - I've ridden this. Expect a proper review tomorrow when I'm not as tired =P
