Project Needlemouse: old threads

thats not quite right, I was trying to say the form of Sonic that was actually dubbed 'Mr Needlemouse' before he became called Sonic

 

I know I know, was just being silly.

I wonder how likely it is that the character "Mr. Needlemouse" will remain on the basis that they don't have a big enough "rejected" label to cover it...

 

I think it's all but guaranteed that Big and Shadow are gonna be out. They even confirmed it themselves here.

Well, thank the fuck Christ for that! Those were the 2 I hated the most.

 

Stop getting your hopes up for Sonic 4, it's never going to happen. If it does, they'll be tugging at a lot more than just my heart strings, that shit will go alllll the way back to my childhood of waiting for Sonic 4 to appear on store shelves when all I would see was Sonic Jam and 3d Blast. I highly doubt anyone at SEGA will be able to emulate the same amount of sheer brilliance the original Sonic Team had before they went their separate ways.

 

As I see it, Thursday and friday are getting knock-offs. So what, that's four more, right?

Right now we've got these left:
Sonic
Needlemouse (ugh, isn't that just Sonic?)
Shadow
Amy
Big
Froggy
Shade

If we get a saturday knockoff, then everyone but sonic is out. If not, I think we'll be seeing Sonic, Needlemouse, and Shadow left on that list. My hope is that Needlemouse is just straight up Sonic the Hedgehog. I mean, that's what Sonic was in the first place, right?

 

IF they could get the original team back together, and it's a big IF. It would be bigger than resurrecting John and George and then getting the fucking Beatles back together.

Also, I'm expecting Sonic, Shadow, and Amy. If Big does end up on there, he'll most likely be making minor cameo appearances in levels.

 

The blog author said that Needlemouse was just the code name for the project. It's most likely not a real character at all (despite some people making it real in their hacks).

I think it's safe to cross that one off the list. Especially considering this isn't supposed to be a major Sonic title, so they probably have no intention of introducing any new playable characters.

Sonic Advance 1 is Sonic 4. =P

(in my world, at least)

 

I'm expecting more of an all hedgehog game, with the exclusion of Silver, who isn't on the list.

From a marketing stand point, Shadow has a big fan base and is most likely to appear because of it. Amy is also a possibility to attract girls to the game. So I'm with Sonic, Shadow and Amy making the final cut. All three have shared similar gameplay in previous Sonic titles too, so it would be easier to program unique attributes to each character based on one style of gameplay.

 

I'm so glad that I never get excited for a new Sonic game or have any hopes whatsoever. It makes the disappointment (or the overall lack thereof) so much easier.

I'd bet that Mr. Needlemouse is just the old design Sonic. Get new gen Sonic and old Sonic... with Ashura as an unlockable secret character.

 

I wonder what will happen if they can't get to 750 replies.

"Well, we couldn't cross out Big and Froggy, so I guess we'll have to put them in the game!"

Meh, I don't consider it Sonic 4. Sure it had the same game play, but it was nowhere near the brilliance of the Genesis games. I think calling it Sonic 4 is quite an overstatement.

 

GREAT idea... except no!

 

Advance 1 has the physics and level design of a classic Sonic game. Soundtrack isn't bad, either. It just has a hideous art style.

 

I am almost positive it's going to end up being only Sonic, Sonic and Amy or Sonic and Shadow, which I wouldn't mind, if executed correctly.
