    Yeah, the dates line up better with the second game. The first Magical Quest on SNES came out in 1992, whereas MQ2 was on SNES and Master System in 1994. I wouldn't get too excited.

  3. U R A God How did u manage to rip the .wad off the VC

  4. The WAD was ripped by a scener, actually. I googled it, asked some folks with connections, and eventually got the WAD itself. Then went to extract the data until I got the ROM. I had to ask "paul" from acmlm to write up a new CCF extractor for this, because none of the other apps I used work (He told me they sucked).

  5. So does this mean we can get more unique roms from the VC, I hear there is a new revision of Revenge of Shinobi on there, would love to find out the differences etc!

  6. Wasn't there a thread on that on the technical discussion in here? I recall hearing that the the VC version's actually softpatched over, with the patch-data in a different area than the original ROM, which is itself a good dump of the last revision up to that point.

    SNES and N64 ROMs also get altered in various way before being released, with the new data outside of the actual ROM itself.

    Yeah, but nobody has ripped that ROM yet. =\

  8. If you need someone to rip more VC games into .bin ROMs, I could give it a shot - would just need the WAD file, I believe, similar to this.

    For Sega Channel titles in particular, ones mention in Japan are Earthworm Jim 2, Ecco Jr. and Pitfall. I do not know if these are actually in any way different from the US VC releases or whatnot.

    Kiddo, I have to tell you how awesome you're, but I'm short of time.

    Now I can play the extra mode of Dyna Brothers!

    Thanks, Kiddo!!! =D

  10. Maybe when you have some more time, you can tell me how to play the game myself. Or if a fantranslation exists.

    Sadly a translation isn't on the web. But I can explain you how to play the game, because I beat it. (I even know the name of the dinos and I understood the basic things of the plot).

  12. Alright, cool. :D

    Incidentally, the one image link that was borked before, with the Sega Channel JP Error message, is fixed now. Saved the picture. :3

    (EDIT: For extra bonus points, here's the Wii VC WAD of Dyna Brothers 2 Special;

  13. I've been checking the Dyna Brothers 2 Special ROM for some notable differences from the standard ROM, here's what I got so far;

    1) Obviously, the "Sega Channel Special" difficulty level, which seems to have unique maps.

    2) Below that is access to yet another menu of sorts. It has various, strange new modes. Of note, check out the "Anime" mode to watch all the character animations, and the "Fight" Mode... unlocks a fighting game. Huh? O_O;

    Super Mario Bros Lost Levels is worth a shot, it was released as an FDS game, so who knows, maybe the VC version is a straight-up NES conversion?

  15. I remember hearing before that you'd actually get the FDS image from that... I'm gonna take a look at some of those though.

  16. Decided to try taking a go at translating the blog entries.

    On the one with the single large picture;
    "Game Channel started in Japan to deliver games via cable TV lines.
    Cartridge receiver only (images) can be attached to the Mega Drive and owns rental
    30 different games. Cable TV available nationwide.

    In North America, cable television giant Tele Communications (Tele-Communications Inc. / TCI) in collaboration with the company started, 20 to 50 million households were to deliver the game.
    It seems that deploy similar services in Europe."

    "It is similar to the Super Famicom 'Satellaview'
    Is this the father of the software distribution on Dreamcast and Wii?
    Because this is the original hardware - not emulated - the games would play perfectly.
    By the way, it might be still doing the service offer. [Translator's note; Blatant lies].
    At that time, I abandoned it because I did not join the cable television, though I wanted to receive this service. "

    "Also, an unusual arrival --
    Sega Channel exclusive cartridge receiver

    Lines using cable television service could download and play Mega Drive games.

    Because the service is finished, of course nothing is received.
    Receive errors!

    And, because it is this "The AC adaptor is necessary also for the receiver"

    Receiver only for mega-drive + Mega CD + supermarket 32X + Sega channel

    When connecting it
    To the thing "One game machine is moved with four AC adaptors".

    [it kinda breaks up from here]"

    Can anyone suggest me any other Sega CHannel-related sites to attempt translating?

    I recently have been offered the chance to buy one of these Japanese Sega Channel adapters. Question is if it's worth it? Were games ever stored on these things, is it worth the money to see if something might be left on it? I know Rika Chou owns one but has yet to get it dumped or anything if I recall correctly.

  18. Replying even though I already told Shoeman to nab it, because I feel it's -that- important.

    Yes, this makes me quite the nerd. Aw, well.

    I don't have the Japanese version.

    That one is a really rare to come by. I still need to send my two NA versions to drx for dumping when he gets less busy.

  20. any update on the obtaining of that cart?
