DS Sonic Jam? This interests me if the price is right and it's not Sonic 1 GBA all over again.

    MIDI-to-SMPS-conversions, mostly. Takin' requests, too.
No, it doesn't. The HUD shouldn't be loaded yet, nor should the timer be running already.

Interesting, maybe it's not emulation after all, if that shot is real.

This looks great, especially as it has been changed to the DS's resolution so well. I hope that the screenshots aren't mockups, especially the one with Knuckles and Sonic vs the Mushroom Hill Zone boss.

However, as Herm the Germ pointed out, the inclusion of the HUD and the fact that it is already counting is odd. It makes me worry about the amount of attention to detail that Sega will put in this. I am very concerned that the gameplay will be just like Sonic 1 GBA.

So so far I like what I see, but I really hope that Sega put a lot of effort into making this true to the original.

Does this mean we could infact be in for something rather awesome?

This does mean something good though! Instead of it being emulated it's actually being ported and being worked on.
...that may also be a bad thing.

Wonder if they'll fix some of those "floor traps Dr. Robotnik placed" in several levels... especially Launch Base.

    fffffffffffffffffffffff

They've got about four or five months to work on it, I guess. Hopefully that kind of thing won't be in the final...

    Not likely, but...

The part about the games not being emulated does scare me after what happened with Sonic 1 GBA. But at least we won't have to worry about the audio sounding like it came from a cheap mobile phone.

Since when (or why) would they care about fixing old Sonic games? It seems like all they care about it churning out the same stuff to get more profit from them.

Having said that, aren't the ports of old Sonic games actually getting gradually worse with each release, instead of better (from what I've heard, anyway)?

I just noticed how the cover says "4 Games in One!" and yet it has KinS2 and S3K, which are usually treated as seperate games in previous collections. Huh.

Would've been a good opportunity to state, "6 Games in One!*"

Watch Sega add in Hidden Palace Zone to Sonic 2.

    Eh? Eh??

SEGA should loot this site of all the prerelease Sonic roms and stick them in as well.

"Also Includes Over 50 Never-Before-Released Special Edition Games!*"

*Some games cannot actually be played to end credits - see instruction manual for details

Am I the only one not really bothered by the fact that modern Sonic is on the cover? I mean, yeah, I love classic Sonic to death, but I actually don't mind modern Sonic, compared to how you guys feel towards him.

Also, since this is practically shaping up to be Sonic Jam DS, portable Sonic World OR ELSE SEGA. :argh:

Anyone buying any Sonic game for the box art has a problem.

  20. To me this isn't only about the paradox of having modern Sonic on the cover of classic games, but also that it's a very generic and re-used art. Not only it doesn't include any actual references to the contents of the game (remember when you looked at the box of a game and went like "hey, look, it's the 3rd boss!" or "this is the 2nd level!"?), it wasn't even made specifically for that game and was already used before.

I don't buy stuff because of box art, but this is just more evidence that SEGA isn't committed to this thing. This "why draw new art that is related to the game? Just pick something we haven't used that much yet" attitude perfectly fits their current attitude towards the development of the ports/collections. I'm guessing this collection is just gonna suck.

I won't buy this regardless of how cool the box art is. I don't have a DS and I'm perfectly happy owning all the original carts and console, besides being able to emulate the games perfectly on my PC. I'm just saying that they lost yet another opportunity of doing something right.
