The Best of Crush 40: Super Sonic Songs

I have to say I'm not really digging any new versions here, and its making me realize I like the sonic songs from other artists better, but it's still nice to have this stuff in a properly tagged album.

 

Ashram there's a problem with Track 1 (I Am All of Me) at 2:23. Some sort of "dip" in the music volume. Very noticeable. You may want to try re-ripping it. Player used was Foobar2000.

P.S. Loving this album.

 

I guess it's repairable in a program like Audacity if its that much of a problem.

 

I actually picked this up the other day.

Open Your Heart sounds so different. Not really sure if I like it over the original but it sure doesn't sound bad. Geoli's vocals sound a lot more controlled in the new mixes. I can't tell if it's just because he's improved vocally or if its all the processing they're doing to the tracks.

Also the Ungravitify cover kindof leaves me with mixed feelings. It's a great cover and shows quite a bit of musicality but it kindof looses the charm that made the original track so great. (I guess they got a better drummer too lol. The drummer is kickass in the mix.)

Also, is Is It You a cover or an original song? For some reason it sounds like it has to be a cover of some 80s song but I can't find the sauce.

 

Is It You is an original song from them. They only covered Fire Woman.

 

I don't think Gioeli's voice changing matters much when it's still the same track from ten years ago, except now with Senoue throwing every effect he can find on it for no apparent reason. Fuck that mix.

 

Is it me, or is I am... (all of me) a bit slower? And, in all seriousness, Knight of the Wind new mix is better than the original :v:

 

I Am... All Of Me actually sounds exactly the same as the original to me, save for the ending. But don't quote me on that, I was also unaware of the terrible compression on the original Live & Learn mix until I recently went back and listened to the first Crush 40 album.

 

WTF at the new mix of Open Your Heart?

Insane amounts of reverb on Johnny's vocals in the chorus, MASSIVE compression, overdubbing? You can barely hear Jun's playing over Johnny's singing when his vocals aren't cluttered with effects.
