You do all realize without any further information this could even be just Super Mario World with a different label on it?

I don't wanna bother drx too much, he already has a lot on his plate.

I'll first try and find a cheap SNES, follow the guide Ryoga posted, and see if it's even something worth dumping before I buy an expensive dumping tool or send it somewhere.

If that's the case then it's most likely a graphics hack though, not the vanilla ROM. I mean, Sonic Jam 6, anyone?

What? Hey man, this isn't about self-image. A few other users (who I'm not calling out) occasionally make posts like mine, and I really don't think they're that harsh or insulting. It wasn't even hateful. I just thought it was amusing. Surely I've said a few dumb things that people feel like quoting, whatever.

Back on topic, though. I'm betting the cartridge won't even be functional, it looks old. Not "old" as in "it wouldn't work", but old as in "who the hell knew how to hack into an SNES cartridge back in 1994, 1995?" The new label on the cartridge is confusing though, it's not like anyone had Photoshop to screw around with.

Pirates used to make hacks like that for that time already.

It's called cutting things out, pasting them together, and making a cheap xerox or two... The way they used to do things before Photoshop. :P

    For example:

It's just the Speedy Gonzolas hack. I've seen it with that artwork before, nothing special. That specific art more often comes up on a couple multi carts I've seen that have that game on it.

Still interesting to own though :P

Sorry but it's really been bothering me a fair bit -- it's Speedy Gonzales.

And shoot, obviously back in the day people knew how to program the Genesis and SNES. All that game code didn't just up and create itself! :P

You have actually seen a cart with exactly this art running and it's the Speedy hack? Or have you only seen it on multicarts?

This art was used a lot by pirates, and I do expect it's the Speedy hack, but there's always the off chance that it's something else.

Hahaha, this post is just as bad as the one in your sig. You really are clueless.

This cart of Sonic 4 is that Speed Gonzales hack, a friend had it.

I hope the Sonic & Knuckles one isn't.

To the best of my memory I saw it with that art and an accompanying shot of it running and it was the Speedy hack. More recently though, and I mean like 2 weeks ago recently, I saw an auction for a multi cart that had the game on it with that exact art, and it showed the person playing the game on the TV also.

No doubt to me it's the Speedy hack. But of course I guess you can never be too sure. I still wonder if there's any SNES pirates out there that are as of yet undiscovered. The only pirate that I know there has been no sign of but has been mentioned a few times is Kirby's Super Star for Genesis. Now that's something I'm really curious about.

  12. Some years ago on brazilian street markets aberrations like this were common. I've seen Mega Drive cartridges labeled as Sonic Adventure, Sonic 4, Megaman X3 and Pokemon. SNES cartridges as Pokémon Stadium and Sonic 3. But today 16bit era cartridges are pretty rare around here.
Some pics I found on Google. Unfortunately all low resolution and bad quality x(

I recognize those pics. They come from MercadoLivre, a brazillian auction site. I've tried getting sellers to send stuff to me, but they say that it'd be unfair to people over there for a foreigner to get it.

    Asswipes.

  14. Yeah, the pics are from MercadoLivre, nowadays the only place where Genesis cartridges can be found on Brazil (except some reports of Sonic 2 Beta pirates that was found somewhere on Rio de Janeiro). And yes, it's very difficult to negotiate with the sellers there, but someday I can buy those stuff and send to you, if we found some safe and cheap methods for you to send me the money, the only problems is the very high taxes that I'll have to pay, but if you're interested, contact me ^^

This Sonic&Knuckles pirate is tacky :psyduck:

The closest I've seem to this is a S&K pirate for the genesis, that featured S&K alone, with no lock-on technology. :( I was so pissed off when I got it from a friend of mine.

The art is definitely the same.

Oh damn, I can barely remember something now. A decade ago I remember seem someone playing a Sonic hack for the SNES, but it definitely wasn't Speedy Gonzales. It was something else. I can't remember it clearly, let alone figure out what game that was. Perhaps this pirate could be that hack?

Looking for a Rom Hack to Test.
I would say its a pirate Cart with Sonic and Alienstorm on it. Not quite sure why those 2 games have been selected though!

I was thinking about buying it, but it's a little too pricey, especially if it's a pirate. I asked the seller for a picture of the cartridge, but he hasn't responded yet.
