Back from working abroard. Gunna get back in to hacking then i'll start working on somthing proper.
To me this was the last good sonic games before the series went downhill. I absolutly adored this game when it was given to me and I still go back for the odd game every now and again. I would still rank Sonic Adventure 1 higher though.

Sonic Adventure 2 ties with Sonic 3 & Knuckles as my favorite Sonic game, but there certainly are flaws. The thing is, said flaws aren't really bad, it's the fact that SEGA apparently thought that those had to be built on instead of the good parts of the game, and they're what's remained constant ever since.

I quite liked SA2B (never played the original SA2) but my main issue with it is Knuckles' rap-with-a-c music, and how Knuckles went from tough-guy to emerald hunter. It's boring. The rest of the music isn't bad though, but they could have done better with Tails as well as Knuckles. Kart racing - horrid, though.

Oh, and Omochao pissed me off, but he was worse in Heroes.

  4. Wow did the music kick ass, though probably partially due to the fact I hadn't heard much rock before hand.

Plus it's the only game where Shadow is cool rather than just plain emo.

I agree, the music for the game was awesome, the ending track at the end of the final story (where Shadow falls to earth) put a tear in my eye. I thought it suited the situation very well.

SA2 is a great game, and SA2B is a rare case of "port is better" I love how they tweeked it up and gave it some extra dev time to pummle out some bugs and beef up the interfaces and extras.

There are only 2 things I dislike about SA2B

    - Pumpkin Hill
    - Mad Space

And that was easly fixed by just not playing them lol

I'm not saying its perfect, (Adventure fields would have been nice) but it really is by FAR, the least frustration inducing 3D Sonic game ever, almost like 0%.

No, you aren't. I agree with you there. (With the possible exception of Sonic Unleashed 360/PS3.)

What I didn't like though was the Tails/Eggman stages. Tails levels should have been Sonic levels with flight. The Eggman levels could have been made the same by allowing his machine to fly for short periods instead of hover. (Egg-o-matic with wheels for instance) E102's shooting levels (coupled with Big's fishing of course) were the most tedious parts of SA1. They shouldn't have kept that aspect of the gameplay for the sequel.

None at the moment I'm afraid.
I haven't had the opportunity of playing Sonic Adventure 2 but I will say from the youtube videos and other things I've saw from it I actually do want to play it. I actually want to get the Dreamcast version because it was the original and I'd just generally enjoy watching Big get hit by the Truck in City Escape for Lulz. (I think he gets hit by the truck. I can't really remember.) Unfortunately, getting it at this current point in time is a pain in the ass for two reasons:
    1) I'm missing an RF Cable to hook my Dreamcast up to a TV. (I had one until someone broke it.) 2) I currently don't have the time or money to buy a copy. I did think about buying a copy of SA2B for the sake of just playing the game but when I went to EB games to buy it, some faggot had gave them the wrong fucking game with the SA2B box so I just forgot about it and left.

As for the 3D sonic games in general, I think the redeeming quality of all of them, right down to the shittiest is the music. I've really enjoyed many of the music tracks from the games, even the ones I haven't played. If there is one thing that isn't going down with the games in the franchise, its the music IMO.

No one mentioned how this game began the whole abuse of grind rail trend?

I didn't hate him at all in SA2. I felt he was a brilliant character then! When he died it was really sad, however he shouldn't have been revived, cloned or whatever is the now accepted story.

I do hate him since he returned. He became extremely annoying and emo.

Oh man yeah, you don't even have any control anymore, in sa2 you could keep a higher speed by leaning into corners and crouching down. All bars now are "point a to point b" devises.

Not to mention it looks crap in modern games without the shoes that actually make grinding possible (plausable)

With proper pinball dynamics, it would be faster just to start rolling rather than going on the rail. It really came off as a crutch to make up for Iizuka's seeming lack of talent for designing in the third dimension.
This. No aspect of SA 2 can make up for doing this.

Plus, It's not much fun. It's another Sonic game that I'm glad I only rented.

As a kid I thought this game was the best thing ever.

Looking back, Sonic/Shadow gameplay's alright (I still prefer SA1's however).

But when it comes to the other characters gameplay....ugh. Tails/Eggman were standable, but Knuckles/Rouge was just tedious past the first few levels, for me at least.

Redeeming quality for me in this game was the Chao. I fucking love those little guys. Wish they'd make a new game with the SA-styled Chao Gardens in them, just for old times sakes.

I'd settle for something along the lines of Chao Garden DS, like Nintendogs, but with the obvious difference XD

I had fun with the Sonic Adventure series. It kept me busy for the most part and out of trouble.

I really enjoyed SA2, until I stopped playing as Sonic.

Honestly, Knuckles, treasure hunts, lying emerald detector. Who thought this would work. Knuckles gameplay is nothing short of painful. As for tails gameplay, I've never seen such a button spamming fest. I found both unbearable to the point that I just got fed up, and stopped playing anything other than Sonic or Shadow levels. Until I got that space level with the gravity stuff. That confused the hell out of me. I didn't know what was left and what was right, so it got to the point were I was just dying because I press left (which turned out to be up)

So Sonic Adventure 10x better than SA2 in my opinion. Knuckles still has treasure hunting in SA, but at least it's bearable there.

I enjoyed SA2 and it was a nice game. The gfx, story and gameplay were good. Hell I even liked the mech stages with their multilock system and beefed up firepower. The only thing that irritated me about the PAL DC version was that bug that made the analogue stick get out of sync when playing the mech stages.

It's not the best 3D Sonic for me though since that was SA1 but it's a nice second. The real crap started with the Shadow game.

Wait wat? Lying Emerald detector? Green for close, yellow for walmer, red for hot, "!" for dig here, I never had a problem O_o your working on a sphere of proximity, if its not working, its because your going in the wrong direction.

Tails button spamming fest? hold "B" to lock on and release to fire, "A" to jump and hover? Where is the "fest"?

I'll give you Mad Space though, that level is a total craphole, Mario Galaxy it aint.

The radar worked with an emerald at the time, not the three at once like in SA. Perhaps is that? Or perhaps he's talking about some of the locations, which could fool someone that hasn't played it for many times. Even I, who knows many of the locations and the levels reasonably, gets confused by some every now and then.
