http://img512.imageshack.us/img512/5712/bi...animatedar2.gif I started off with 4 frames, but I'd say I make 8. It still looks a tiny bit laggy.
Honestly, I wouldn't go by that. The main characters are Sonic & Tails, so I think Knuckles should look their style, because - well, how can I say that - he's in the same world as they are. I'd keep it homogenic.
I'm not sure if I did say it before now, so I will. I NEVER thought that the S3/K Knuckles art ever fit in with the Sonic 2 art. Every time I played the game it felt really jarring to me -- especially because I played Sonic 2 a lot so I was quite familiar with Sonic's style.
Hello guys, Sorry for a long delay in getting back on the posts, looks like 2009 will ba as busy as the last. I have made the changes according to the last submission, along with amends that Vincent had put up. The size is at the same size as the original size to what the sprite was that I traced from, is that the correct 4x sizing? Let me know once again, im I hitting the nail on the head. EVERY ONE IS DOING A FINE JOB, KEEP IT UP ALL!!! Take care Peeps! ^_^ Veej
Hi VJ! This is the latest .AI Tails version! Download Link Yes, the 4X size is correct but the colour profile on the image you posted looks not RGB! Open the above file to check the correct colour information
Hi Vincent! Cheers for that file. The colour profiles I have changed down to your colour of Tails. I've realised that I had started to work in CMYK and made the dead wrong school boy error of converting it back to RGB which it still uses the same colour profiles as before, DOH!!. What im doing now is using your Tails to colour pick on my version, but also borrowing bits of artwork from yours aswell. Im guessing your using a tablet to draw them? I've slightly getting carried away with tidying it up but I suppose there's no need when its at 4x the size! I will repost hopefully today if not tomorrow. Cheers!! ^_^
WT?!?! Optical mouse?! Hats off to you Vincent, thats really impressive stuff mate!!! I did have a Wacom Tablet, but lent it out so use the mouse with the pen tool. You don't cease to surprise us anymore! LOL ^_^ Veej
I got a tablet too, and believe me, while working with vector-drawing, its easier to use a mouse and a keyboard to press ctrl, alt and shift. Not to mention that a tablet is useless for doing things without the need of pressure, and that things.
I use my tablet + keyboard combo all the time, never had any trouble getting to those keys... You really ought to look at picking up a cheap tablet though Vincent
Unsure if this would be included in Level Art or Menus, Title cards... ect.. topics so its in General. Obvious WIP - as you can see I haven't erased the rubbish around the edges, :P
Flare even WIP, it hints pure ART. The amount of details (palmtrees & shades) you've put on the hills is MORE than awesome. I have no suggestion at the moment, but just one notice on the brightest green which is maybe too bright. Keep it going! ^^
HI I just remembered that I haven't done the frame for when sonic jumps on the tube spring in CPZ. tried to find the frame but I couldn't so I took a screenshot from the game it's self, It's easier than I thought merely an edit of a frame I already have. Source Finished image Updated .ai file http://www.box.net/shared/lia3zm2o40 I know it's not a lot, but I did it just so it was complete. I am trying to do the boost pad things in CPZ but hey don't look very good at the mo
Thanks for the source file Hodgy, I've uploaded it to the database now. And really, if you're looking for more art to work on we could use your talent remastering the remaining targets for EHZ much more than in CPZ currently. Coconuts has got next to no love for a long time now.
I'd love to but I feel that I'm really not skilled enough to create character sprites, just objects, I'll give it a try though! EDIT: Ok I've had a quick go and done only the head just to get a "look" going. It's far from perfect through, so any suggestions will be very helpful!
I'd tell you the same thing as the rest of our artists in their first few attempts - shape, shade, detail! You're going to want to fix the form of the piece before trying to do anything with the shading. Right now the head is oblong on the back side; see how the pixels come straight down in the original? That certainly doesn't mean a good quality remaster will also have a straight line there, but that it won't be bulging like it currently is. Same thing with the lower portion of the head. I'd trim that line up the to right side of the chin. Hopefully someone can take these along with their own suggestions and do a side by side illustrated comparison. Thanks for deciding to give this one a shot
Iv'e done a quick update implementing what you suggested. New Old Original I really don't mind doing this although it's kinda debunked my revision today :P But I really want to see this project finished and I only regret that I haven't spent more time on it!
Good, it seems you're getting at it. Last thing to worry about is shading, so continue to shape the main body accordingly to the sprite. Anything, I'm here to help you! ^^
