For those wondering, it got a 5/10 from that site.

EDIT: To compare, that site gave Wii Music a 6/10, which is 7 points too high.

  2. It's kinda pathetic that one of their biggest gripes was about how losing all your lives takes you back to the hub world. Isn't that kind of expected? Seriously, it's not like that's anything new. That's one of the last things you should complain about, especially considering how easy it looks to rack up 100 rings.

Well, in modern gaming, lives are becoming an out of date concept. Gaming is now less about game over and losing all your lives, and more about obstacles which slow your progress to the end. Which supports my opinion that the review is from a non-gamer (not even casual) view point. I.E. a parent who might play wii fit or solitaire.

I love old school gaming, though, and lives absolutely have a place in Sonic the Hedgehog. Hell, I'm still upset that getting hit doesn't cause you to lose all your rings.

I'm actually not too thrilled with the inability to collect lost rings.

However, at least the jump damages baddies. Unlike those OTHER games >_>

  5. I'd rather the ring system be like this rather than losing all of them and also being unable to recollect them.

Just saying, it could always be worse. People didn't really bitch about the ring system in Secret Rings, and Unleashed's ring system is about the same. I honestly didn't mind.

Where may I ask this leak is? I'd be able to play the PS2 version quite easily. I've searched a few torrent sites, but got fuck-all in return =P

It seems if I could play Secret Rings, I'd find plenty to complain about.

So who wants to donate a Wii :D

Similarly, and I know this is a long shot, but anyone know if it'll run in pcsx2? My gamestop hasn't called about my preorder (the wii version).

My PC is powerful enough to run crysis on high and get full speed saturn and dreamcast emulation, so....?

Funny, I just read that dolphin is able to emulate Sonic and the Secret Rings. got a fast PC?

  9. I didn't mean no one complained about the game. It's just that I don't recall anybody making complaints about its ring system.

"Seems poor old Sonic just couldn't make the leap into 3D, the stunning blink-and-you'll-miss-it gameplay failing to translate like, say, the more studious and explorative platforming of Super Mario."

These guys could just by Nintendo fanboys if they gave Wii Music a 6. And am I the only one who doesn't think 3D Mario is some sort of immaculate transition?

I'm a freaking GIGANTIC sonic fanboy and even I have to admit that Super Mario Galaxy was amazing. I bought that game brand new twice because one of my copies got scratched.

I didn't think Mario Sunshine was all that good, however, outside of the secret levels. And while Galaxy arguably felt closer to classic mario than 64 or sunshine, none of the 3D mario games really play like the classics. I mean, where's my intense enemy bopping puzzles ala Super Mario Bros 3 world 8 level 2? They're entirely new games starring mario that just happen to be good.

I don't think the 3D Mario games are exactly bad, but that they don't play like the classics, as you said. It feels like a whole different series.

All 3D Mario games where good games, Super Mario 64 and Galaxy where phenomenal and even Sunshine that most people criticize (including me) is way better than any 3D Sonic (expect maybe Sonic Adventure 1). There's really no comparison here. Super Mario 64 was indeed different from classic Mario games, but in addition with Sonic titles that tried something different and failed, Super Mario 64 was phenomenal. Super Mario Galaxy is a complete different story though as it plays a lot like the classics.

The only thing that gives Mario 64 a favorable image in my mind is that it was one of the first.
Then there was Sunshine, sort of like SA2/Heroes in terms of crazy changes and gimmicks made
Will Unleashed be like Galaxy? We shall see!

But yeah, they have little to do with the old games on NES and SNES.

Gathering information on Sega World Sydney and collecting Sonic merchandise.
Here's some new info on the NPCs of Sonic Unleashed, found on the Sega Europe blog. All I can say is it's strange. Very, very strange.

    Professor Pickle

Professor Pickle is, after Chip, the most important “new” character in Sonic Unleashed. A gentleman of advancing years, easily decernable by the rather hairy eyebrows that cover his eyes entirely Professor Pickle is a well renowned lecturer at Spagonia and also an expert on the Gaia manuscripts.
As such he immediately attracts the attention of the nefarious Dr. Eggman and is kidknapped only to be later rescued by Weresonic and Tails. The Professor might be elderly but he's no pushover and despite his rescue when he sees Tails he's first words are to complain at the quality of the food insisiting they march straight down to the kitchen so he can show the cook how to make a proper cucumber sandwiches. It's from the Professors lab that you'll gleam important hints and tips on controling Sonic and just where to head next. It'll also be the home of your bookcase (contatining the Bestiary, Art Files and list of people you've met along the way), television and gramophone one you've bought them. The Professor is also fond of souveniers so since you're going around the world perhap it'd be nice to pick a few up from the shops to bring back to him…

    Boss (That's his name!)

You'll find Boss firstly around Spagonia; he's a businessman from the heady heights of Empire City who finds himself stranded following the world being split assunder. Whilst he is a business guru, resplendant with a snappy suit and tie not to mention a designer briefcase (and hairstyle) Boss is not as you might expect an uptight misery. Yes, he can “move billions with a snap of this fingers” as the game puts it, and yes he's a bit irked that he's stranded but you'll find despite his hardworking attitude he's got a good heart too and he's not one to reward acts. In fact he'll eventually be asking you to a present to someone in Spagonia who inspired him to work even harder!

    Wantos

Wantos is quite possibly one of the most bizzare fellows to ever grace a Sonic game; which considering that puts him in with Mr “I'm A Ghost” from ‘06, is saying something. A caucasian man dressed in a large greenish raincoat and a similarly coloured top hat pulled right down over his eyes so only his rather bulborous nose can be really seen. Wantos is a travelling salesman with a nack for not being able to sell anything. This is mainly because he is a bit of a basketcase, suffering from nerves to the point of being terrified when someone actualy speaks to him. In order to “help” him he has a friend, somewhat “closer to hand” than most people.

His right hand to be precise.

You see Wantos has a Chao glove puppet he speaks to (”ITS A PUPPETTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!”), appropriately enough called “Chao” and the stiched-up companion constantly barracks him to be more open and not to run away. Yes. He converses with a puppet.

A Chao puppet with-a an faux Italian-a accent like mama used to make.
    I'm not joking.

I not thought that the wii version really was short as they say...

But Tweaker is right about the marketing, because is the same way that happens with the other games that came to all systems, like DS and PSP or even worst, mobile. At the end always the better systems predominate, which far are 360 and PS3 version.

is a pity that here I can not worry much about the launching date, because anyway the games arrive here like two weeks later...

I hate that as well, and I thought of something. Newer sonic games are starting to do things that replace things like speed up shoes, barriers, and invincibility to the point where these are abilities rather than temporary.

Huh, sorry about that comment. I didn't know that Sonic Cycle thing had such a bad conotation. I just were at two other forums before (not counting the time that I was such a huge newbie) one that Sonic is not really commented and the other one about Sonic that I just saw two or three comments about the thing.
Cool NPCs, but I didn't see them at the PS2 version of the game. To speak the truth, it's my neighbor that has it. I don't own a PS2, I downloaded it and put it in a DVD so that we could play together, but I just played a Sonic level and an alternate mission of it and a Werehog level. Tomorrow I can't go to his place since I'm going to be at school all day long, but I'll see if after tomorrow I can play some more.

Has anyone here played Unleashed for the wii yet? My Grandparents are on their way to pick me up, they grabbed it for me at Wal-Mart.
