    Thanks for the pointers guys, Ill address all your tweaks the next chance I get!. he's really fun to work on!

    Oh and Vincent, I use flash, . Then I moved the image into photoshop add highlights with the dodge brush.

    Mindchamber, Flash is great program and it will be easy to export transparent pngs!
    The important thing for us, is to get everything in vectors, included shades.
    Reason is pixel perfect alignment fixes and animating frames without reshading them differently.

    Right! Now make the yellow shades like the original frame and proceed on making the jaws more blade-ish.
    Once this is completed, please move on the mechanical legs!

    This one is really well done Siris,
    before proceeding to add manual shades, please remember to remove outlines completely and match the frame correct 4X size.
    As we make a mix between original and artrwork, make his head black.

    I also feel the black lines fit well, though I agree with most of Vincent's other suggestions for improvement and the things Lizam mentioned.

    There are a few really obvious things I still need to do with this, but if you have any suggestions other than the obvious - let me know.

    Legs are difficult to render, and you did with such nice details! :psyduck:
    I suggest:

    -Move left (a little bit) the right black stripe, than draw a third one just on his bottom. (Check the original frame)
    -The wheel-base has a perfect squared box, but the upper part of it has a strange piece connected to the wheel itself (like oval-shaped).
    -Like written before, make his head of a pitch black metal

    Once this is done, please proceed with manual shading.

    Thanks for the suggestions Vincent. I'll address all of the issues you brought up in your posts in my next edit. For now though, here is comparison shot of three different versions of Grabber. I want to find out which version people prefer more.

    So please, if you're seeing this - chime in on which version you like best. Silver or Black?

    Personally, I like the silver colored head as it makes Grabber seem more like a metallic robot and adheres to the concept art's vision.

    Many "S2 Badnik Original Artworks" looks really much different than the final one.
    It may be possible that they based off previous versions or they drawn them after the final sprite.

    I like them both!

    But the black one is more aggressive to me! (Black-Widow spiders have black head)


    P.s. Please remove the orange shades on the black head

    Definitely the black version, not only does it look better, it fits more with the original game since the sprite had the black head. As well, I like how you made the black head and the triangle-like design visible without making it blend to much without seeing any details.

    Black head it is.. I'm beginning to like it more as well. I added your suggestions and improved some areas of the design a little.

    One thing I'm noticing here is that we've got a bunch of different, potentially conflicting styles going on here. How will we handle this once it comes to putting them in game?

    Siris is only using the smooth gradients as a placeholder before he moves on to the lower grade gradients if that's what you're referring to. By the way, nice job on the details of the mechanical legs, very impressive! Looks like I have some competition :psyduck:
