Haven't seem too much Sonic Hacks (it's not a hack, but you get the idea) on the GBA. Great stuff, Stealth.

Anyway, someone should send this to SEGA. Seriously.

I was honestly waiting for this to happen: a full 16 Sonic the Hedgehog (name whichever game) ported on top of the Sonic Genesis code. Stealth is like god to me because this works on my flashcart. :psyduck:

Stealth you do something amazing, and then you set the bar even higher. This is really awesome.

Wow! Both these things are awesome! While I know you said in the readme that you didn't have any real plans for these, is there any chance you'll try to post Sonic 1 to other platforms or add Tails and Knuckles to other levels in Sonic CD too? It would be rather interesting.

Am I the only one having trouble with the links? They both send me to a dead page.

My mind is fucking blown. Even for just a proof of concept, that Sonic 1 GHZ port is awesome. It's practically perfect, the only inaccuracies I noticed were almost unnoticeable glitches in the background deformation. Even the music is right on. I'll have to run this by my friend in town who has a flash cart and see how it runs on GBA hardware.

  9. Well, at least I can play Sonic CD on a bare Mega Drive ^_____^

Now, port S1MM back to mega drive and you are my hero :P

    Also impressive stuff there :psyduck:

Yeah, It's set, I am going to buy a Mega CD ASAP

    Bye for now :v:

He wasn't extremely awesome already? :v:

Copy and paste the link into your address bar. EmulationZone has always been bad with hotlinking.

Part of Team Megamix, but haven't done any actual work in ages.
    It runs perfectly =P

Also, for those who haven't understood it, what Stealth did was NOT a hack of Sonic Genesis, but a true port of the original MD game to the GBA.

    Overall, awesome shit.

Stealth needs to work for SEGA now and stop their bullshit. =P

But this is awesome. I'll try it later, right now I feel sick in my stomach, and playing Sonic 1 for an hour our two ain't good for that. >.>

Wow... One man alone doing what a whole SEGA team should have done in the past. First a proper port of Sonic 1 to the GBA and then... Sonic & Knuckles attached to Sonic CD (sort of)! What's next? Sonic Advance ported to the Genesis?

Have you considered sending the R11A assembly to somebody that might want to port the other levels as well? That would be one hell of a project.

EDIT: Just a few things about R11A:

-Is there a technical explanation as to why the debug object moves so slowly?
-How comes Tails seems to have a different kind of slope detection? He behaves different than Sonic & Knuckles at the ramp at coords 129A 0348 (his sprite doesn't appear at an angle, and he'll appear to gain speed when moving towards the left).
-How can we get rid of debug mode?

I think Stealth is fully capable of converting every level if he so desires. If anyone else wishes to do the other levels of their own accord, they'll have to go through the same process Stealth did. All the resources Stealth used to achieve the feat are available publically, so with the proper procedure it should be very possible. And I mean, think about it—if someone else could convert the rest of the levels, don't you think this would have been done already?

Outside of that, I think Stealth has made it very clear he doesn't release source to any of his projects, and with good reason—it's his unpaid labor going into all this, and he has no obligations to share it with anyone. I'd say that the fact that he released the binaries is awesome enough; and who knows, maybe Stealth might work on it more at some point. But that's really his own thing, and we should totally respect that. :v:

I mean't so he wouldn't have to convert the whole lot of levels Sonic CD has. Of course he would be capable of doing it himself. =P

But he must be the only one who knows how to do this, or else somebody else would have come up with something similar already.

I don't see this doing anything. Even if it were fully complete 100% and accurate to boot, I highly doubt Sega or Nintendo would allow the release of it for retail considering how many people bought the original Sonic Genesis. It would more then likely be a big waste of money to attempt something like that.

Wow, this is amazing stuff. You did what an entire SEGA team was unable to do. =P

Did you make any new SCD hacking notes while porting R1AA to S1 (if it's based on S1; if it wasn't that's even more awesome), and if so, can you release them?

Well, I will say that I do prefer the music and GUI elements of the GBA version, but everything is top notch.

Makes me wonder exactly what method they used to create the GBA port, though (of course, I've wondered why they didn't bother to try for DS anyway).
