Yeah, confusing title, but it's something I've been working on behind the scenes for a while. A Sonic 1 SMS disassemble and recode for Mega Drive m68k. No, I'm not releasing the disassembly yet, because it is highly unfinished and uncommented. I'm doing things sequentially. No point showing pictures, as it just looks like the Master System game through and through. However, something I have been working on, as the z80 side is freed up, is putting the Sonic 1 SMPS engine into it (and also because the Master System sound bits don't work properly at all for me D:). I have it working fully through Green Hill and Bridge Zone, and partial Jungle Zone. I'm working on Jungle Zone's stuff as we speak (objects, music, etc.), so I can't show that, but I do have two videos of Green Hill and Bridge Zone in action. (Ignore the youtube creation dates, I uploaded them for friends privately a while ago.)

Youtube : Green Hill Zone Act 1
Youtube : Bridge Zone Act 3 (Boss)

So, yeah, this is what I've been working on whilst taking a small hiatus from Extended Edition. :P

If someone updated the graphics it'd be like playing a real genesis port that could have been released. I hope Triple Trouble is ported someday too, that's the best one.

Keep up the good work Cinossu, I can't wait for a release =)

Also, I wanted to make 16-bit versions of Bridge and Jungle Zones a long time ago, but I lost interest in hacking for a while =/

This is awesome indeed, it's a strange mix of 8-bit and 16-bit.

    I DONE MAKED GAMES.
    You Are Legend.

A full 16-bit remake would be seriously cool, but I'm already very excited by this. Awesome stuff.

Holy shit, badass! We should totally use this as a base to modernize the game.

Bridge Zone music upgrade is still sexy :D Can't wait to see how the others turn out

  12. GET BACK TO WORK ON EXTENDED EDITION!

But in all seriousness, this is awesome. I can't wait for Sonic Chaos to be ported.

My god, this is indeed awesome.

But the Game Gear version had more detailed backgrounds than the SMS... just in case you had never noticed, and want to make the "ultimate" fullscreen version of 8-bit Sonic 1.

    Yes.

No offense, but while this is definitely awesome in the technical sense, I just don't like SMS/GG games in general... the graphics and effects (stuff blowing up, anyone?) are kinda boring.

I do like that Bridge music, though.

off topic, I just noticed your sig. :3

  17. Bridge Zone music sounds absolutely beautiful, is it the same as the one in Remix?

    Very impressive!
This will no doubt be another step in the community which will not be forgotten, and I agree with Tweaker here, it would be the perfect base to bring the graphics up to scratch.
I eagerly look forward to seeing more.

Same here, Sonic Chaos is my favourite of the 8-bit games (though probably only because STT never got a Master System port).

But once it's running on a MegaDrive, it would be possible to replace those graphics to make it look 16-bit.
