That may be the case OL, but still, with Altered Beast, the transformation into werewolf was something that was in the first game. With sonic, We have liek 453453 sonic games, and NOW he gets this Werewolf make over? Same thing with TP, though I'm not saying anything about who ripped of who, but hell, even I made that correlation to TP because its more comparable. What's happening here is what happened in TP. Its more or less a ,"WTFOMGBBQ!!11" reaction, where in Altered Beast, at least for me, it was a, "Holy shit! That's badass!"

Well, I mean that some of the Super Mario Galaxy levels looked like that -- spheres with fissures and holes in them.

However, I should admit that I wasn't trying to be taken too seriously with that comment anyway.

I think you guys are missing the real point, which is that Sonic totally stole jumping from Mario, which was clearly the original sin.

Cmon, seriously, it's not like the concept of a werewolf was invented in 2007 or 1989 or whatever else. Gasp, people take creative inspiration from each other. Get over it. There are hardly any actual new concepts.

This is like people who seriously complained about the DS because there was a G&W with two screens and touchscreens had existed in the past.

Its not that I think they are stealing ideas, its just really...really....REALLY unexpected. But then again. We've had 2 games with Sonic AND Mario in them in the past 5 months. :/

And Star Wars Characters in Soul Calibur

    And Xfire finally supports PSOBB...

    ...Eh fuck it.

    Everything has been done... period.

Rayzor over on FUS summed up everything I'm thinking right now and I have a feeling the quote applies to everyone reading this topic as well:

And is anyone else having trouble staying logged in? I've had to log in like 5 times today...

I don't think we are saying its a bad or good idea. Like I've said. Its just really unexpected. Some people might take to the idea. Other will meet it with skepticism. There is always a side of nay and a side of yay.

Really, what I am more interested in is the engine. That engine just screams, "WINRAR"

Which really worries me because I agree with you. I'm just afraid Sega is going to blow it and put Tails in a mech or something.

It's the Sonic Rush engine. You can tell by the way the player moves around corners, and how the camera is panned when you're at full speed.

Well yea. I figured that much, but I guess I mean the gameplay. Like its not exactly the same as Rush because they might have a few differences, and that's what I'm interested in.

Sonic 1 Rehash - I'm not saying its canned, I'm planning on some work on it this summer.
I think its the Sonic Rush engine with the Sonic Rival's camera system at points, if watch closely sometimes it will let sonic almost if not leave the view of the player for a moment before you can see him agian. Also the camera on certian parts seems to just keep a general view of that area like near a certain loop or turn. I could be wrong though. I doubt this game will use the must always keep running all the time thing. That I think was done specificly for the Secret Rings and if they really are trying their best to revitalize Sonic I believe they are paying attention to the reviewers from the last few games. I think one of the major down points to SaTSR was the forced always move forward thing.

My only big worry is that it looks too Rivals-esque. I mean, yeah, the fact that the HUGE screenie a few posts back looks exactly like Blue Coast Zone from Rivals 2 is actually something I like, but until badniks are programmed (and I'm assuming that as this point all demoed levels are void due to being early in production), we're not gonna see much except push-right action.

Obligatory were-whatever comment: Well, at least we're just changing an existing character instead of making a new one...? Eh, I'm not holding my breath, but declaring that it'll tank early is a bit much. Prolly changes play style as Sonic '06 did, what with Sonic being fas- fa- fast (okay, couldn't say that with a straight face) and Shadow being more combat oriented. This new... thing... might fill the latter role, with about, say, 15% less angst, so long as they don't pull a Fleetway and make him lose his mind or something. >_>

Did you NOT see Sonic's Wereform? He looked like he was going to pop a blood vessel.

Well, if I wanted to draw Sonic's new target audience I'd draw it overly-badass too. Doesn't mean squat gameplay-wise... although granted that's probably what will happen.

I pretty much predict that Sonic is gonna turn Full Furry and snarl around for specific levels, go nuts, and have some sort of event bring him back to his sense and/or back to his normal form. The way the like to do Super Sonic, is probably how they'll treat the werewolf. You can't use him at will.

    Working on my art!
I have a feeling that this werewolf Sonic will be more like the Fleetway Super Sonic (That is, evil). Hard to tell with just concept art though.

Also the entire Sonic series copies off other things, even the classics copy stuff. Death Egg -> Death Star. 7 Chaos Emeralds -> 7 Dragon Balls. Super Sonic -> Super somethings from DBZ. Nothing new.

Looks like it could be a good Sonic game if they finish it this time, like Sonic Rush Adventure. 2008 could be a good year for Sonic (in theory). Anyhow, here's some stuff I noticed while watching the gameplay video, looking at screenshots and reading some articles:

    - Sonic Rush elements like the "Ring Energy" meter (so far acts like the Tension Gauge from the Rush games), using the speed boost to plow through enemies (0:47-0:50 in the video)
    - Whilst it looks good on the side on view, the treetop area did have some poor angles going through the loops in that section.
    - http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2008/03/23/ru...details-update/ seems to hint at Tails and Knuckles being playable. Hopefully we'll see them playable like S3K as opposed to Sonic '06. I personally speculate that the Ring Energy meter for Tails would be predominantly used for flying, goodness knows what it would be used for with Knuckles though. Of course Tails and Knuckles could be a mistake on the part of that website however.

If they made Eggman the main enemy, it'd have my full attention... seriously what is this Lord of Inmyanus or whatever? They're so fricken close it's not even funny... guess I'll just have to see where it goes from here.

No, that page talks about the stuff that SEGA ON recognized later it was pure speculation.

For now, this game looks good at first sight, but damn too fast in my opinion.
It's good that SEGA thinks about 2.5D, but now, they really have to slow down the whole thing a bit. Sonic is more a platform game than a race game.

There is no one little second in the video where I saw Sonic stopped. He is always running, running and running... I'm afraid he will run almost automatically like in SaSR, and that all you will have to do is to look at Sonic running like crazy taking consecutively springs and speed boosts, and jump passively.
