I recently bought a Saturn, and today I went shopping in general and found Sonic 3D: Flickies' Island for Sega Saturn. At the insanely cheap price I obtained it, I was 'blown-teh-fuck-away'.

After playing the Saturn version, the Megadrive title just seems like some poor quality port. :/ I'm wondering, seeing as I saw it in the same shop, whether I should get Sonic Jam. AFAIK, Sonic Jam is just Sonic1-3&K+S1 Spindash+A small 3D World. Apart from all the Omake in the form of the museum, is it realy worth getting Sonic Jam or should I stick with my GCN Sonic Mega Collection?

:) I was considering it if Sonic Jam was a rarity, but I'm unsure whether it is or not.

If it's cheap, why not? You'll also get a time attack mode for all the games.

It's not a rarity at all, but still good to get. The bonuses are somewhat more interesting in Sonic Jam than in Mega Collection IMO.

Oh definetly. Sonic Jam was the definition of my childhood and until the game disc broke it was my favorite game. So many features like time trials, special stage mode, different levels of difficulty for different games, and Sonic World, which far surpasses the extra features of Mega Collection. Not only that, but you're getting the good Sonic games, not the spinball and Mean Bean Machine shit that plagues Sonic Mega Collection.

I used to enjoy Sonic 3D Blast for the Saturn, I especially miss the special stage. Best special stage in any Sonic game ever.

I guess... I own it, but I don't really go back to it.

But then, perhaps the same could be said of ALL <s>religions</s> games. I spend too much time on the 'net, I tells ya. I definitely liked what I saw, but I wish there was a "Hard Mode" instead of only easier modes ("Original" is hard mode - and since that's what we grew up on, it ain't hard at all.)

I always used to say Sonic 3D special stage was and still is the best 3D sonic ever.

    And yes get Sonic Jam.

You know, I'm pretty sure it sounds like he wants a legit version.

Besides, we all know about SonAR, it's a bloody sticky for crying out loud.

I have it and so should you, there's much more love in this game than mega collection. Sonic World (3D Stage) is short but is very fun to run around in.

Posting in agreement with everything everyone's said.

You know what I'd like to see? The 'Sonic World' in Jam hacked and modified. It was the only true 3D sonic 'platform' type for saturn.

NO. Get a modchip instead, and save your CD motor.

You know, that modchip definitely looks pretty enticing... not so much for pirating as much as homebrew, mind, but still. (Sure, homebrew isn't as popular on the Saturn as it is on the Dreamcast - but honestly, I don't care.)

No import modchips, though. That's REALLY what I'm after.

I bought one of racketboy's modchips -- it didn't work. I tried it in multiple Sega Saturns (both soldering A+B and soldering to pin 14 methods) -- all failed. My swapping hasn't ruined anything yet and I have multiple Sega Saturns anyway -- and it's not like they cost $600...

It goes for around 10 bucks in Japan. I bought a copy. You really should have it even just for collection.
