why in sonic 2 when you blow up the death egg you fall from space back into the atmosphere but don't die like you do when you run out of rings in doomsday zone or off a rail/platform in sonic adventure 2?

'cause he fell to the bottom of the level, and it doesn't wrap. :P

In Sonic 2 the screen fades out before he touches the bottom.
