The hack that I'm making is putting Sonic 2 into Sonic 3's Engine. I was bored I guess. It's going well, EHZ is nearly complete.

How would I go about getting the Sonic 2 Music into Sonic 3, Is this even possible?

    I've Searched with no avail.

Learning the whole Sonic hacking thing, Im gettin there Slowly....
what would be cool I guess is to have s2 levels added to s3 without removing the actual s3 levels both are linked storywise.
    that would be awsome.

unless you are already doing that.

This is completely off-topic in this thread, and is some kind of bump as well.
But I must admit that it's a great idea.
Think about it, you arrive with the airplane from Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 begins. It makes sense.
    But is this really possible?

It'd be a real bitch, probably, as I bet you'd have to extend a shitload of indexes to add all the levels from S2. Not to mention that probably no-one knows where any of them are. Besides though, it's kinda pointless, unless you wanted to redesign the layouts and make use of things like S3's sheilds.

I wouldnt say so, as I thnik there is an object limit and Sonic 3k is already using a crap load of objects as it is. :P

You could combine the zones out of S2 and S3K quite easily if you shifted all the data into S2. S3K is full of unused shit and doesn't have a completed disassembly to make it an easy task. If you had the knowledge of both games, you could port all the necessary objects and stuff from S3K and remake everything in S2. It'd take quite a long time, but I'm sure it's possible.

The object format in S3K is different enough that you'd have better luck rewriting all the objects in S2, at which point you'd likely come up against the object limit - because the Sonic 2 object engine only assigns one byte to the object's identifier, so you have a maximum of 256 objects, and it's likely that to put S3K into S2 would require a massive overhaul of the object engine to extend the number of objects you're permitted.

Additionally, there are a large number of new routines introduced in S3K which allow for the use of frankly obscene amounts of artwork in the game, as compared to S2 which uses conventional mechanisms for loading art for objects and is severely constrained, almost to the point of total saturation of VRAM.

Getting hold of an early drx-esque beta of S3K would be interesting since we'd see the new S3K levels in action in what would be incredibly close to the S2 engine.
