I disagree. I refuse to use crappy translation names. I never will call Sonic 2's Mecha-Sonic "Silver Sonic", and I always hated the name "Floating Island". And even if I lived in Europe, I would still be calling Metal-Sonic "Metal-Sonic" instead of Metallix. Also, I prefer the name "Fang" to "Nack" because it is supposed to fit with "Tails" and "Knuckles".

Robotonic is probably some weird Japanese employee of SEGA pretending he can speak English, since the katakana would be pronounced "Robotonikku."

Blazer: Metallix is Archie or Fleetway or both, I've never seen it used in a European manual or anything.

If you're talking about the MegaDrive version of Sonic 2, that robot was never called Silver Sonic anywhere.

Also, I had never heard of that "Metallix" name until I stumbled upon the Sonic fan communities (note that there were no Sonic comics in Spain).

I'm a fleetway fanboy, and I call him Metal Sonic too, I just think that the Brotherhood of Metallix was damn cool.

I don't know for the Megadrive version. At least, it is Silver Sonic in the Game Gear version, I can ensure that.

About Metallix, it's the same for me. It's always Metal-Sonic, nothing else.

Aah, I must have seen every episode of that series about three times each when I was young. Good times. I remember requesting we have chili dogs for dinner one of those nights. Ex dee.

    Scratch and Grounder FTW :P

Interesting point, you're right actually, the first time I heard that name was after coming to the community... unless I'm missing something. Sounds like a similar kind of thing to the Dust Hill Zone fiasco.

  11. I'm fairly sure that it derived from one of if not all of the game guides. Either that or it's a fan name that's gained so much popularity nobody, not even Sega can remember if it's the original or not.

It's called "Mecha Sonic" in all (2 or 3) I've seen.
    Me too.

Reminds me of "Robotnul" ("nul" in french is "idiot") or "Spoutnik" in the french AoStH dub :P

I agree, and that's why I can't see where is the problem. On Megadrive, it's just NOT Silver Sonic. Actually, it's a Sonic with silver color...
