Yeah but I imagine SNES emus for the GBA won't be as fast as ones written for the DS.

And I know that SNES emulators for the DS won't be as fast or complete as the SNES emulators for the GP32 and GP2X. Not to mention that the GP32 and GP2X don't require any special hardware/software/trickery to run emulators.

Edit: And Quickman the only advantage the GBA has over the DS is GB/GBC support, and I don't need that thanks to the GBC emulator I have loaded on my GP32's SMC. And the person responsibile for said GBC emulator is coding for the GP2X(Including porting his Dozen+ emulators), so yet another point for the GP2X being the BEST handheld for emulation.

That's because all the current DS emulators suck...

I suppose. I want to see someone test this as well before I buy the new hardware. A screenshot would be a good idea.

The author of that emu claims it ones at ONE FRAME PER SECOND.
If you're using an DS, stick to NES and Gameboy emulation, those work almost perfectly.

Regarding Game Boy on DS, there's something I've been wondering for a while. Is the DS's GBA hardware equipped to play GB games, like a stand-alone GBA or SP? (That is, are old Game Boy/Color games incompatible only because they won't fit into the cart slot?) And ditto for the Micro, if you should happen to have any knowledge thereof.

The DS and the micro lack the Z80-like processor that is in the SP/GBA/GBC/GBL/GBP/GB, which is why they cannot play Game Boy/Color games. Making the cart slot size fit old GB games wouldn't have been an issue.

So, how much do you want to bet that your Z80-like processor was left out to revive sales of GBA SP?

How much do you want to bet the GBM would be significantly larger with that processor, as would the already bulky DS?

You're both wrong about the DS. There's a fairly well-known and easy mod where you connect a couple points and you can play GB/GBC games. Really old though, good luck finding those pictures; they were awesome.

I also think that at the time, Nintendo pulled support for GB/C to sell GBA:SPs and the not-yet-released GBA Micros. Gaming IS a business. But of course, Nintendo can always make newer versions of the DS (like the DS Lite). This opens the door to future GB/C support which is easy as hell for them to implement, and consumers will buy it up.
"New DS! It's shinier and comes in my favorite color! I'll just sell my old one at EB, the screen has some scratches anyway. Plus I relly want teh GBC support on the new one."
You know we'll be hearing that in not too long.

Again, the DS lacks the Z80 processor. It could be emulated, but that could be exploited far too easily.

    WRONG

The DS (at least the main ones) DO have a Z80 processor -- or at least a legacy mode accessible via emulation of some sort. Heran posted the tutorial to do so posted back in 2004 on LiveJournal, and it DOES work. All you have to do is a bit of soldering. You can even extend your wireless by about double the range!

Read, man. Heran will be glad to link you again, I'm sure.
