What was your first sonic game?

Despite the fact that 99% of the entire Sonic community would likely go with Sonic the Hedgehog, Genesis, by not including the thirtyish Sonic games that have been released there may very well be someone left out. And shame on you for not including Sonic the Hedgehog: Triple Trouble. tsktsktsktsktsktsktsk...

 

4 words: Sonic The Hedgehog 1.

 

I started with Sonic 2, Genesis. =P

 

Sonic 1.

It was my first video game, and the reason I bugged my mom to buy me a Genesis. For a while I was stuck on the first Motobug.

 

Sonic 1, SMS. Grandfather bought it for me

 

Sonic 3 PC Version.

 

Either Sonic the Hedgehog 1 or 2... Can't remember which one I played first, but I can remember I was around two years old at the time.

My first Sonic game was Sonic 1 on the MegaDrive/Genesis, I was 6 years old at the time and it's when I first got my MegaDrive, I actually remember the day quite clearly and now I'm 19.

 

Sonic the Hedgehog 2. It came boxed in with my Genesis when we bought it.

Ah, the summer of 1991, joyous times were had when I was but 10 years old. Passing the time sitting in front of the TV with joypad in hand. Those were the days. The days of innocence. The days of zooming through Green Hill zone and owning Robotnik's arse. Good times.

 

Sonic 1. Got a Genesis for Christmas. Had it set up on this little piece of crap television so as not to take the real TV away from my parents. Although they sure got sick of hearing the Sonic music in the background.

As for myself... It's hard to say. Either Sonic 1 or 2, it's a bit far back to remember. I do have fonder memories of the original though in earlier years, so I'll go with that.

 

I can't remember which I played first, but I got Sonic 1 and 2 at the same time. I think I played S2 first but I'm not 100% sure.

 

The very first Sonic game I played was Sonic 1 (8-bit) on the Master System at a friend's house. Later on I got a Game Gear for myself, along with the MS converter plug so I could borrow games from my friend and play them. The only thing was, playing Sonic (or any MS game) on the tiny GG screen is almost impossible!

Eventually I bought Sonic 1 and 2 for the GG, and played them both a lot. One thing I didn't like about Sonic 2 GG was the fact that the bosses were MUCH harder. Not only were you restricted to a smaller visible area of the screen, the boss programming itself was altered. Getting past the first boss without losing a life is impossible! Still, it's better than having to play the MS version with eyestrain

Interesting fact: It is possible to blow up the Game Gear by having the cartridge not seated properly. The design of the pins is such that if the cartridge isn't fully pushed into the slot, the bottom row of cart pins will short the top row of pins in the GG. It's just like sticking a piece of tinfoil into the cart slot and turning on the power.
If running on mains, this will often cause the GG to make a loud buzzing noise and smoke will come out of the link lead socket. I went through 3 Game Gears this way XD (and naturally, the store gave me a new one every time because it was guaranteed)

It wasn't until much later that I got a Megadrive 1 (original without TMSS) with Sonic 1 and 2 - which I somehow managed to blow the sound amp circuit on, leaving me with 'silent' games

 

A pirated 2in1 Sonic 1 cart (with Thunder Force III), which I got along with my MegaDrive for christmas That was my first video game ever I think. That's why I love it and I always will. And I care more than others :P

Btw, who remembers the CNZ thing? With the cylinder? Haha! That was good.

 

Haha, that would explain why every GG I got was busted. =P

 

It was actually sonic 1 round my cousins house. I distinctly remember repeatedly dying on GHZ on the bit with the spikes and towers. He was like "No if you get invinsibility you'll still die if you run off the edge of the spikes" but I ignored him and died XD
