Sonic Racing CrossWorlds Coming Sep. 25, 2025

Would be cool if this game had something like Out Run 2's 15 Continuous Course, where you could race through all the Crossworlds in one long, start-to-finish race.

 

There's apparently something like that for the grand prix, where you'll do one lap on all the tracks you just played. feels like it would be a waste if there wasn't a way to marathon all the tracks working in one continuous race, though.

 

Something for modders to make happen, if nothing else. Seems like fun.

And yeah, I do hope there is SOME kind of mission mode, even if it's looking more and more like there's not a story campaign.

 

I remember reading a mention of "Challenges" somewhere, which sounds like missions to me, but I haven't seen any coverage thereof.

 

There is no real single player story mode, and loss of racers will have unique missions to progress like PGR/MSR, GT, Burnout Ect and lets be frank here, One is talking of racers...ie you race around a track against opponents, not the likes of Rival or Heroes or Sonic's mobile phone fluff.

There isn't a complete single-player story mode in Team Racing, and deep down you know it, there is more of a story mode to Sonic Spinball and to bring in Rivals is scraping the barrel; that is not what anyone would class as a proper track based racing game, but no doubt you'll tell me people do... and I'm amazed you aven't brought up Intial D which is no doubt a Seaa racer with a story based single player mode and the irony isn't lost on me given its the same team working on the game



I will judge the game on it being a racing game, not some single player story based game and from the beta I played, it seems a step up above Team Racing, but not quite up to the unbelievable levels of Transformed which for me... still ranks as the best kart based racer along with Powerdrift. We'll see mind whats the final game is like and the game is also coming in a standard price for modern day racer and I would imagine it will be packed full of content. I've got my order in, for £54 from the Games Collection, which is way cheaper than what the £74 Nintendo is asking for its Kart Racer on the same site

 

I'm hoping for some randomized survival mode where you just race for as long as possible until you get knocked out. Although I wonder if the game supports such a structure. It seems like the game always has a main track for laps 1 and 3, but the center lap is limited to a pool of the crossworld tracks. I hope I'm wrong and they're able to just randomize every lap.

 

I genuinely don't know how you manage to convince yourself of your opinions. I don't think Sonic Racing Crossworld needs s story mode and would much rather they put the the time into tracks and characters which they seem to have done. TSR had a story mode. I think it sucks but its a mode with a story, with voiced cutscenes. The tracks aren't all vs CPU racers but that has no bearing on it being a story mode. Rivals is also a racing game.

I'm glad you are excited for the game and love Sonic. Me too! But you can't just discard facts like this.

 

Yes there is. It has a story. It has dialogue. It has cutscenes. It has exclusive unique missions relating to the story. You're just saying it doesn't count because you don't want to admit you got it very obviously wrong.

That literally is what you do in Rivals. But even if you pretend it not having laps makes it not a real racing game, all three Riders games do. And so does TSR. And all of those games have story campaigns.

Me being right and you being wrong tends to have that effect. But even if I beat myself over the head with a rock a few times until I forget Rivals exists and totally does count, you're still ignoring Riders.

The irony is lost on you, because the irony is that you said you didn't know of any SEGA racing games with stories, and apparently that was either a complete lie or you decided to post that instead of doing a 2-second google search.

Good for you! Except this isn't about you. You were the one inserting yourself into discussion telling people they were just haters for saying that the price didn't justify the amount of stuff in the game. What you think does not change that.

Knockout tour is amazing in MK World so having something similar in this game would be great.

You're off your rocker if you actually believe the words you're saying. All of the games cited by myself and Devin are racers that have story modes and structured mission modes. It's objective fact. Do the decent thing and admit when you're wrong, or at least stop wasting everyone's time and shut up.

Hey, is this implying that Persona, Yakuza and Miku get their own stages? Because it's actually rad if we're getting free stages on top of characters. Good opportunity to add more Sonic stuff when the IDW and Prime DLCs happen.

 

If they're making a Like a dragon stage, it's most likely gonna be Kamurucho, but it's also possible that they'd use Yokohama since it was the first map that had a kart racing mini game and has more diverse areas such as a river/ocean (yes, like a dragon had a kart racing mini game).
Or they could be funny and choose Hawaii as a track.

This is a very impressive feat, however surpassing both frontiers and shadow gens is not surprising.


Frontiers reveal was a joke, and shadow gens was not the most exciting premise at first.

 

Possibly, but I feel like it's just bundling everything together, i.e. crossover racers and themed stage(s) from Minecraft, crossover racers from Minecraft, Persona, Like a Dragon and the world of Hatsune Miku. That's the minimalist scenario though and I'm more than happy to be wrong.

 

I guess it's just that it's a little misleading to say "these things are getting tracks" when that statement doesn't apply to 3/4 of what you're listing. But I certainly wouldn't put it past them.

 

I'm in love how this game are animating characters, it looks so smooth. And I think I really like Sonic's model in this game?

It still has some stuff to improve yet, but I hope they keep it up for next 3D mainline Sonic game.
