"Sonic Blitz" softlaunched on mobile devices, digital collectible card game by Rovio

I never considered the DiC characters to be off the table since we did get Dulcy in the Encyclo-speedia.

 

We got a cheeky "it looks like this character from SatAM", that's a little different from half the damn cast getting to show up as we knew then ten years ago.

 

They still officially acknowledged the show for the first time in years during that part in the book. I think my point still stands.

 

They acknowledged Chronicles in the same book, that doesn't mean any of that shit is coming back.

 

This is all super well-said, I’d also add that if there was any opportunity to bring certain characters back, some dinky little mobile trading card app is just about the lowest possible bar, it’s borderline just franchise trivia. I can see why Sega would throw up a hard barrier over introducing Sally into one of the mainline games or the IDW comics, but be fine with her basically being nothing more than a digital action figure.

I don’t know about Rovio having more pull than Ian Flynn...he wrote for Sally and those characters.

If they do make it in I think it’s because Sega figures it’s just a card game so it wouldn’t hurt and they can see people’s reaction.

 

IIRC it was Lew Stringer, the creator of Tekno, who got upset over the use of the character as he feared they'd use her without his consent.

 

Regarding this, anyone else remember that batshit insane case from like 2-3 years ago when the official Sonic Twitter acknowledged Fiona Fox?



Interesting that they're calling her a Gemini too, since it doesn't line up with the release of either Sonic issue #28 or Knuckles issue #26.

I quite like this track, a nice mix of atmospheric and funky; I particularly enjoy the percussion and twangy bass used here! I wonder who's composing for this game?


I dig the end of Match Win's track sounding like the end of Emerald collection's jingle, that's a nice little nod.

I know folks are tired of the Sonic 2 drums, but I will never get tired of them throwing in some FM Synth Bass.
