Someone at Sega is getting fired.

 

Was hopeful for the game at first but not getting good vibes from this being real. It almost feels like they're hedging their bets in the shadow of Mario Kart and just doing whatever to desperately try and grab more attention (these adds are infinitely more stupid than the non-Sega stuff Transformed did, and that's saying something)

 

Why can't it just be a cute and fun DLC?

More people would buy the game so it's somehow worse????

 

Those things takes time and resources and lot of procedures to even approve, let alone make and implement in a game, it's in no way a reactionary thing to something that was revealed like some months ago

Obviously these get more kids eyeballs on it, but it just doesn't look great if this DLC is happening before anything else. To me at least (and I suspect some others) it comes across as Sega throwing their hands up and saying they don't have confidence in their own properties, let alone Sonic itself. Which is somewhat eyebrow raising when we're just coming off the back of them making a big song and dance about utilising their works more, and the previous expectation of how part of the whole CrossWorlds concept meant that, not this.

I'm not saying that wasn't stupid too, but it somehow made more sense in a game that already had various Sega characters in it, not to mention their own history with making actual NASCAR video games (the Daytona Hornet itself is even technically in there). So did Wreck It Ralph, the Team Fortress 2 characters and even (ffs) Yogscast - at least those were inherently games-related.

 

+ - Oh my God, Ren & Stimpy might actually have a chance to be in a Sonic game.  

 

And now SEGA has a history with Paramount making their movies (3 of them, + a TV show)

 

I'm not gonna lie, this is overwhelming.
I would've liked for the game to actually release before all this.

 

How the hell are Sega still managing to have internal design documents leaked in 2025!
