Sonic Racing CrossWorlds Coming Sep. 25, 2025

I mean, it's a stretch, but one of the items in Crossworlds is green slime? I think the likeliness of the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards influencing crosspromo. within the title is high enough, considering SEGA's last similar foray with odd character inclusions. (Transformed having Wreck it Ralph, TF2, Yogscast, and that driving lady)

 

Absolutely hope it doesn't happen. I want a Sonic (and SEGA) racing game. We don't need Spongebob shitting up the space. And as for TMNT, they're absolutely nothing to me but an unrelated IP that just doesn't belong here.

 

TMNT is very plausible , they are everywhere! They had collabs with Call of Duty, Injustice 2, Batman, Naruto, Street Fighter 6, among other things, a collab with Sonic is the least weird thing they could collab with

 

I would really, really rather this be fake. I think the guest characters in Transformed were okay - that was already a crossover game, and the few guests at least had to do with either racing or video games (even if Yogscast was still a bit odd). The Sonic racer does not need random cartoon* characters inexplicably in the mix. If the world has to see the Turtle Van race the Patty Wagon that badly, they can make a Nickelodeon All-Star Kart.

*Yes, I know TMNT started as a comic.

 

TMNT does have a seemingly solid IDW run; I’m wondering if there’s some company crossover at play? A ‘scratch my back, I scratch yours’ three-way between Nickelodeon, IDW and SEGA? That is, assuming Crossworlds will eventually add the IDW favourites.

 

I think they should partner up with Wacky Races.

I have no problem with lots of characters being added as DLC, but the hitch is that they shouldn't be added before better ones. SEGA IPs first, sure, but make sure you cover this series! Promotions with other crossover IPs are fine, but they're supposed to come after you've squared away a decent amount of your own material. The base roster being better than TSR's isn't a virtue, it's a gimme, something they should've been expected to do. I want to see IDW characters, I want to see Classic-era characters, I want to see deeper cuts from main canon than Sonic Fucking Prime, even if they can't be arsed to add in Sally, Bunnie, Nicole and Antoine.

Alternatively, add in whatever the hell you want, but don't make it display unless you download the DLC pack, even for multiplayer (just reskin it to something default). Best of both worlds!

 

We've already gotten some amount of crossover with the Tales of the TMNT promotion on Sonic Speed Simulator, which actually also expanded through to a SpongeBob game on Roblox.

They just stood here for a week until the next where you went and did races and stuff through a New York City/sewer themed track and didn't get and character skins or anything, but they did give out a Pizza hoverboard as the reward.

I think it'd be really fun to see both, I'm pretty much a lifelong fan of SpongeBob so it'd be pretty crazy to have him interacting with Sonic characters in any capacity, and then I also like seeing the Ninja turtles hang around, but idk if I would really like the Mutant Mayhem style in particular. There's usually a more "generic" style they have in Crossover media that idk if Sonic Team would go for. The only other Nickelodeon owned stuff I think would be as interesting would probably be getting Garfield in, both personally and because it's got a little bit of history everyone knows about.

Interestingly I think it's pretty fitting in the sense that Sonic Prime characters have also been rumored and Sonic Prime has been airing on Nickelodeon for a while now. If it happens I wonder if that means it'll be formatted kinda like the collaborations of Super Monkey Ball.

 

Not rumoured, but outright confirmed by SEGA themselves. They're part of the Digital Deluxe edition.

 

I don't see why Prime is more ridiculous than IDW characters to be honest. How is IDW any more mainstream canon than Prime?

 

It isn't, that's not really what I mean. I call it a deeper cut because all of the Sonic Prime characters are just variants on the characters we already have. Probably reusing models if they can get away with it. I'm calling IDW a "deeper cut" because its characters are more unique.

I’m indifferent to Spongebob. I used to watch it sometimes. Saw a comment saying it’d be funny seeing him use Extreme Gear.

Garfield would be cute too. Haven’t played it but his car could be the one from his game.

Which version of TMNT they use could go either way. I thought it’d probably be the Mutant Mayhem ones because they’re current but I was thinking that would date the game once they’re not.

The Original Cartoon turtles could very well be the ones they choose based on being more iconic AND they were used as skins in the Mutant Mayhem game.

 

That sounds like a good way to lose sales. I think most people who pay money for a character (or anything cosmetic) in a multiplayer game want other people to see it.

 

Who says that they're gonna be playable characters? For all we know, they could just be cosmetics for your vehicle. With that said, it would be kinda funny to see Ren & Stimpy show up in a Sonic game. Or maybe the Zim characters.

Also, considering that there's no publicly shared proof that the leaker who did leak the game before announcement shared this info in private, I find this rumor rather fishy.

Sonic Speed already looks slow. Do they have their emergency brake on when at Normal Speed?

For the past few weeks or so, a rumor has been going around that SpongeBob and the TMNT would be in the game, this was backed by the slime power up and Sonic Racing Crossworlds being a sponsor of the 2025 Kids Choice Awards. One of the people who backed up this rumor, TailsGuy92, had once worked alongside ex-credible leaker Midori before exposing them. Today is the first time SpongeBob properly leaked for this game.
