Peter and the Wolf doesn't even have its own Sega Retro page

 

This boils back down to me not being comfortable drawing that line. I patterned this page based on Sister Sonic. There's no CDN guide for "this has X amount of work, we document in here, this has Y amount of work, we document it HERE." I hate this whole Sega/Sonic split. I try to write something down, look at 10-year old pages for examples, and then I'm publicly embarrassed for it. I dont know anymore I dont care anymore, just do whatever

Because I'm one man. I have a full time job.




EDIT: @Black Squirrel @Jaxer I'm sorry I blew up in your face. at this point i might as well just leave it here, i have trauma with the sonic community and there's an undeserved knee-jerk defensiveness that kicks in when shit like this happens. all the nice things that people have done, all the love people have shown me... it all goes out the window when the adrenaline hits. and that's not fair to you.

Oh, this commercial. It gets brought up every now and then, people laugh at its absurdity for a bit and then move on.

I wonder who animated it, though. It's clearly not DiC, I can tell you that.

 

Since it uses a lot of airbrush on the cels, I think it might've been an American studio. Airbrush is otherwise a very rare choice for animation (if you're brainrotted enough to know about niche studios you might be aware of the tragic tale of Spectrum).

All the Chao Tales episodes are now compiled in one video, and most importantly, are no longer cropping a 16x9 video into portrait for YouTube shorts.

 

So glad they did this. I was flabbergasted when they posted these in cropped portrait format (they did the same thing on Instagram). Like... seriously? I get this is for the social media engagement kudos/likes/whatever-the-fuck but still.

That all being said, Chao Tales is adorable and I need more. MOAR.

 

It's obvious they animated it with the shorts format in mind. Every shot is super centered to the point where I bet you could actually cut a version that worked in 4:3 pretty easily with like, 1 or 2 adjustments needed. The stuff off to the side is kinda just a bonus for people who would end up watching the compilation.

 

A shame, really. If they had animated it for widescreen and then just pan-scanned around for the shorts, maybe it wouldn't look as good...but who cares? Shorts viewers don't prioritize good editing.

 

I don’t know if it’s the music and sound effects from early 2000’s, but this video really makes me feel nostalgic. Even Sonic feels a bit more like a mix between X and Adventure. He’s somehow cool. Again.

Also, Sega - bring back the damn Chao gardens in Frontiers sequel.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Sonic Team has spent the past 15-20 years conceptualizing what a modern Chao Garden would look like, but just has never had an opportunity to take it any further due to lack of time, resources and ideas on how to meaningfully integrate it into the main gameplay.

Hell, the fact that Lost World brought back Badniks with organic batteries and even made the animals collectable has me convinced that Chao Gardens were at least discussed at some point during development.
