I tried them out and they all played very similarly to me honestly. I think handling had sharper turns when drifting. At least in my opinion all the types basically play the same apart from TSR.

I just also think they all play terribly.

When Transformed came out, some complaints were that it was too fast, the tracks felt too long, and the flying/boat sections were difficult to control. Overall, it was considered harder compared to something like Mario Kart.

I honestly thought TSR had taken some of that feedback into account based on the choices they made for that game.

Now I’m wondering if they did the same for this one. That might explain why some of the flying/boat sections are shorter and the track layouts are simpler.

I also wonder if they’re planning to include different speed classes and if, for some reason, the beta only features the first one—unless I missed that option while watching videos and streams.

As for the music, ever since Forces, the soundtracks have been a mixed bag—ranging from awesome to great to just good enough, but never bad.

The only soundtracks I’ve liked from beginning to end have been Mania and SxS Generations.

If they stick with what they have, this game’s soundtrack seems like it’ll just be okay.

The only thing that disappoints me about the game (besides the possibility of no story mode) is that they removed the penalty for landing mid-trick, but seeing how chaotic the game is, maybe that's for the best.

They handle very differently to each other, but no matter what you'll be relying on that drift button. I've just switch from a mid-speed setup to a high-speed one though and the different is insane. I don't normally notice such a stark difference in speeds in racing games, but this is crazy. Finding the right build will be very fun.

Huh, based on that I may end up enjoying it. I don't mind being reliant on drift to turn as long as the drifting isn't ass. When I eventually try this myself I'll probably use a handling layout then.

I'll wait for a sale though.

The character doodles that go along with the reactions are sooooo cute. Even if I don't like the game I'll get some enjoyment annoying friends with them in the lobby.

Did everyone get in? I signed up with 3 emails and all of them got picked. So I just have 2 spare codes.

I'll take a spare if you also give me a PS5

Erm... this game is... not great. But it's not dreadful either... however it will certainly feel that!

It's probably because it's the online mode, but it's not fun to play unless you happen to get very lucky.

Wether you win or not seems less on a players skill, and way more on what items everybody else.

The weapons balancing in this game is atrocious.

E.g. I'm winning the race for an entire lap... then seconds from the end I get hit by 3 different weapons, all of which teleport on top of me.

Now these weapons are given to the people in last place... but they don't give them an advantage. They only give an advantage to those in 4th or 5th. (I have video of this to explain it better later).

So you can get utterly screwed by a player in last place, who gets no benefit to the weapon they used.

Defensive weapons/items seem to be nerved to near useless from previous AST games, transformed and even TSR felt really balanced, this game is a total mess.

There's a lot for me to get my head around, and I've got video to back up a few things...

I think another issue is how budget it feels and there's some odd design decisions, like where the character stats are and how you view them.

  9. I had a good time. I sucked at it, but I had a good time. I wonder if anybody here raced against me.

I say the PS5 has no games, then they put the only playtest for CrossWorlds... on the PS5.

Oh hey, I might have to buy a new soundtrack in less than three years from the last one

  12. Seconding this. The You Can Do Anything remixes gives me a big rush of dopamine.

    So there is a catchup mechanic in the game that warps the player forward if they ever get too far behind the pack. I only found this in my attempt to listen to the course music more clearly without all the race sound effects. I just want to listen to the music ;_;

Also, I would hate the 2D chao less if they looped properly. Going slow has really made it obvious.

I really hope this game has better post launch support than the previous racing efforts. That could make or break how popular the game is in the long term. I know they promised a season pass, but I'm skeptical given shadow generations did the exact same thing and all we got was one measly act that was 50% cutscene

So after my last post, I just stopped playing for the night, been playing for around 5 hours and... I think I'm done... with the Online at least.

I kinda stand by what I wrote a few hours ago.

This is not a great time, I'm at Rank C right now and it seems the majority of others are too (seen 1 rank B) and even though I can feel myself getting better at the game, it's barely making any difference, whilst I'm winning and even coming top 3 in a lot of races, it's purely luck. It's completely dependent on the items players behind me use.

One race, I was in 1st place for nearly the entire time, to then get hit with 3 teleport like items that you can't dodge... finished in 10th.

Another race, I had a disastrous start and was in 12th. Yet I finished 2nd, because I got a drill wisp, and somehow managed to use it for what felt like an entire lap. Taking out nearly every racer as I went. That is crazy. There is no way I should have been able to use an item THAT powerful, and gain that much ground from last place!

And there's around 3 different weapons that have a similar effect like that! And from what I've seen, there's only 2 weapons in the game which can successfully block them.

It feels so unfair if you're good enough to be in first place to suddenly find your race ruined because someone in last gets a teleport like item. And even items that lock on, Transformed and TSR had the boost escape mechanic, if you had a boost ready, you could use it and it'd break lock on, but it still left you open for a second attack... However in this game, that mechanic doesn't exist, so you can be hit multiple times and if you're on lap 2... That's it, your race is done! You're not catching up.

Every race I've been in has been like this. It feels like your odds of victory are less on you, and more on what items you'll get given.

I guess it's a shame the impressions are disappointing, the presentation really looks top-notch. I have to wait until it comes to PC.

Well for what it's worth, I'D say I'm having a good time with all this

    - Drifting has a Learning Curve, but it made sense to me overtime

    - I actually like the Crossworlds

    - Water Palace isn't BACK 2 BACK but I still like the music so far

    - I like the Customization, coming from someone who actually likes customization in Mario Kart

    - It has a very addictive game-loop, like Mario Kart but with sensory overload.

Honestly if they can tweak the items, use newer renders, and work-out any bugs.

Sure, this'll fit just nicely with the other Kart Racers I play.

    A combination of the following.

1: It takes time to learn the game which can influence how you feel about it.

2: There are multiple characters and vehicles, each with different stats that change how the game feels.

3: There are multiple courses to race on, and they're randomised so it takes a while to do them all.

4: I do content creation as my job, this seems like a no brainer to collect footage for and take notes for a potential video. This takes time to do.

5: There are numerous things to unlock based on... some kind of XP system, this again takes a while but can fundamentally change how your experience goes depending on what gadgets you use.
