Early fans who owned Sonic CD (US), did you ever find it odd that the past tracks were different?

Played the Gems Collection port as a kid, as far as I recall it was really noticeable how the past tracks were muffled and lower quality in comparison to the present and future ones. Never gave any thought about the melodies and song structure however.

  2. Yes and that's why I said it was the same for those who played the Japanese and Pal versions the chip music didn't have the punch or impact that of the CD-DA tunes

While we’re on the subject, I wasn’t a fan of the new act clear theme (that we all know and love today) when first playing Sonic 3. Granted I have the Generations version as my voicemail chime, I soon took it under my wing along with the rest of the music.

VGMRips claims that it's Sachio Ogawa. I can certainly buy that, but I don't know where that information comes from

The US Sega CD Model 2 bios music is completely great

  6. Didn't like the music of either model for the USA. Also didn't the changes made to the CD player menu display for the USA version, much like the god-awful changes made to the Saturn CD menu and boot-up in the west.

No. But the different bitrate of both soundtracks is obvious in retrospect.
