Yes! I came here to share this.

Between this and the interview with the writers where they stated that originally Amy was to have a larger role, that confirms the "Bad Future" hook for S4.

    https://www.gamesradar.com/entertai...g-that-they-have-a-great-plan-for-her-future/

I watched S3 again last night now that's it's on PVOD - I noticed a few things in the film and mid-credits scene:

    • Near the end of the film after doing the heel-face turn, Eggman throws Super Sonic's quill away instead of pocketing it again
    • The Space Station Ark appears to enter a black hole before exploded into a nebula
    • The race at the end is during the day, somewhere around the Wachowski's in Green Hills MT
    • But in the mid-credits, Sonic is confused as he has somehow lost everyone and ran all the way across the country, ending up in New York State
    • Metal Sonic (primary) beams in from the sky just like Terminator!
    • All the other Metal Sonics are silver-colored exoskeletons just like Terminator!
The details in the mid-credits are a fairly jarring shift compared to the film before it, which suggests based on the evidence from concept art and interviews with the creative team that there were significant details that were cut for either pacing or practical reasons. Most likely it looks like Amy would have helped Sonic thwart a giant Eggman Mech in the bad future.

If they firmly established Eggman as the source of the bad future, it undercuts the heroic sacrifice he made, plus it creates the expectation that Jim Carrey is back when he may decide to retire or if Paramount concludes he's too expensive. Similarly, establishing Amy in more than a teaser would mean they'd have to have settled on a voice role.

Also, another concept art here of Amy:

Kinda crazy how this concept art just entirely revealed the plot of Sonic 4 2 years ahead of time. I wonder if the whole plot will get changed up to make it a surprise when the trailer comes out and it actually is a Heroes adaptation instead of CD.

Did anyone notice the Metal Sonic "drones" having yellow details in the eyes and limbs? They resemble Metal Sonic 3.0 quite a bit

I just noticed it earlier today once the HD version of the scene was posted to Twitter

They really perfected shadow in this movie, its definitely my favorite interpretation of the character. The portrayal of grief was really really well done, the filmmakers managed to balance shadow's character really well. Also seeing him pull out a gun and fucking shoot at sonic put a big goofy grin on my face and absolutely floored my friend who isnt really into sonic outside of the movies, she was so shocked they did that, even if it was just a laser weapon.

I think an aspect of Shadow's characterisation I really liked was that they still somehow managed to interject humour into the character.

Revenge Guac and Gabriella are little bits, but it shows you don't have to be joyless/"tryhard" when handling dark topics in a story, e. g. Sonic 06/Shadow 05. You don't need to tell me how dark and edgy and serious your story is to sell some of the serious topics it talks about.

It's why I also like the inclusion of Big, Orbot and Cubot and even Omega in Shadow Gens. It gives little bits of levity to it without downplaying the main serious elements.

Though, obviously since I've seen criticisms about the tone of the movie being all over the place, as with everything, there is a subjective element to it.

    Worked for me personally, though.

I liked the Revenge Guac line because it’s a callback to Sonic thinking Guacamole is a funny word but I’m not sure it fits Shadow pre-turning good guy. I suppose it’s ok...just thought it was kind of silly for him to say at that point.

I had forgotten about the Gabriella line but I didn’t take it as joke. I thought he was making a serious comment in relation to Maria...that a girl shouldn’t be viewed as something you “win”. They’re a person that should be appreciated for who they are.

I saw it as both continuing the soap opera bit and showing Shadow did care/referencing Maria, as you say.

The deadpan delivery is what made them fun to me.

I really felt the improved timing on jokes in 3, personally, but that just might be from how prevalent the wedding scene in 2 is in my mind, which had some really fun performances in it, but was such a pace-breaker.

I think my issue with "revenge guac" is that it just feels a little lazy. As we've established, it really helps Shadow's character to give him more moments of levity, the guy becomes a wet blanket when he can't turn off the aggression or the trauma. But this line in particular is just a case of adjective associated with Shadow + noun that sounds a little funny. Even with "Evil Ham" in Sonic Boom, it was a random underwhelming cap to a previous rant about burnbot's weapons, it's a misdirection. Here just feels predictable, almost like a joke movie 2 would have used Knuckles for.

I watched it on digital and I hope they take out those lines from Metal's mouth and forehead for S4.

I'm not sure if it's just chin plating but it looks like he has a mouth and reminds me of that Shadow frown panel from Archie.

Not a fan of the lines on his forehead either. I know people always bring up that it's something the MCU came up with (it didn't) but never been a fan of adding lines like that to give extra details on an established design.

I'm indifferent to his other small tweaks/extras on the rest of his body though. It just the face that bothers me.

Yeah, I’m not feeling those design changes. Part of what makes Metal Sonic look cool is the smoothness and sleekness of his design and lack of a mouth, and I think they’ve kinda botched that here. The lines/separate plates on the forehead are distracting and the pouty mouth-looking one makes him look like a ventriloquist dummy. The former looks a bit better in that leaked concept art, but that’s possibly due to it being harder to notice. I do think it looks fine as part of his torso though, and the ears look meat.

Something interesting from the DVD featurette's is tests for Sonic and Shadow, and it seems like Shadow's inhibitor rings were meant to glow by default and not just when he goes super?

idk if this was just because of testing or a design choice, but I gotta say I like the approach the final movie did better.

Holy crap I didn't even notice those lines in the theater. I think the ones on his head are okay but the mouth one... yeah, not so much.

Man those lines are just awful. Ruins Metal Sonic's 1950's vintage fresh look.

It is absolutely absurd how lucky we all got to have Carrey as Dr. Eggman.

Everybody's wondering about the plot of sonic 4 but Ive got a real question: will they pick sonic boom or you can do anything as the main theme for it?

Although, part of me is worrying that sonic 3's soundtrack being so good was just a complete fluke and theyll go back to the generic hollywood slop for the next one... fingers crossed that wont happen?
