This is kind of subjective since "Sonic music" is a pretty wide net that can encapsulate basically any genre, but I'm looking for songs from some of the more well known Sonic artists which would totally fit in with a Sonic game. I think one of the best examples is The Hybrid Front's Scarab of Glory by Naofumi Hataya, which was used in Sonic Megamix and fit like a glove. I'm looking for tracks that seem congruent like that.

One of my favorite examples of this is from Spencer Nilsen. Everyone knows his Sonic CD soundtrack, but his other Sega CD soundtracks are incredible and have incredible mood. A number of his Ecco the Dolphin tracks I always felt sounded like they could be the bad future or something for a sonic zone with the american soundtrack, like I could imagine this being for an ice level in a bad future:

Similarly, I always thought St. Gabriel's Mask from Ecco the Tides of Time would have made an excellent special stage song:

Another example would be the album Olio, which is Takenobu Mitsuyoshi singing to Naofumi Hataya music, that is PURE SONIC:

Virtua Racing Deluxe's Replay music also feels very much like a Sonic song from Naofumi Hataya:

Feel free to post songs that give you a Sonic vibe from other Sonic composers

Any other songs from people who have worked on Sonic before that feels just like Sonic music?

Seriously, he only has one style. Really good at writing songs and playing the guitar but truth be told he's not THAT remarkable.

As much as I love the guy, you are right. At least, he hasn't shown us much range.

Yuzo Koshiro's arrangements for Batman Returns sound straight off Sonic 1 (SMS/GG).

I want to say basically any track from NiGHTS into dreams but I can't really think of any specific Sonic track that sounds even remotely like this

but then you also have tracks like this which would sound right at home in Sonic CD

I think "Sonic music" is a bit too vague because Sonic music is a lot of different genres and styles.

anyways Naofumi Hataya, Fumie Kumatani, Masafumi Ogata and Tomoko Sasaki are goated composers. Huge inspirations for me.

The entire Hybrid Front soundtrack sounds like it could've come from a Sonic game. No wonder so many ROM hacks port music from it.

Lol, I was kinda maikng a compliment actually. I think his style is very destinct and recognizable.

But yeah, non-Sonic songs from Sonic composers that sounds like Sonic music:

This sounds VERY Sonic Adventure 1-esque, which makes sense because Kenichi Tokoi was composer for both!
I dunno man, it doesn't sound that much like Sonic to me:

I think we have a different topic for "this piece of non-sonic music sounds like it could be from Sonic"

On the actual topic, I've always adored Major Magnet ost by none other than Tee Lopez

getting my daily allowance of vitamin kk
In the vein of "just another SEGA soundtrack by the same composer", I would guess Metropolis Street Racer's whole deal with being the spiritual successor to the Sonic R soundtrack vocal tracks and all counts.

Dragon Gave A Loud Scream kinda seems like something that would have fit nicely for a night boss fight in Unleashed had it had some smoother synth instruments, but I'm not sure how much sounding like stuff that came way after the fact by someone else (?) counts.

yeah I get what you mean but I guess in that case it would probably be 'Sonic music that sounds like it could be NiGHTS music' rather than the other way round lol

Literally anything from golden axe 3. Both Naofumi Hataya and tatsuyuki maeda went on to work on various sonic titles over the course of time. Honestly I’ve even started jokingly calling golden axe 3 a “sonic team junior” game because of the overlap in staff.

Those two the most sound like they could’ve passed for some weird obscure sonic music if they weren’t in this game. But I also gotta give a shout out to Ride the Whirlwind. Doesn’t sound Sonic but it’s just a baller song.

I's funny cuz I've seen Acient Mound being used in so many Sonic ROM hacks at the time.

As I already mentioned in another thread, "The King of Speed" (composed by Takenobu Mitsuyoshi) from Daytona USA's soundtrack sounds like a mishmash between the music from Sonic CD and Sonic Advance. Take a listen:

0:43 (beat) and 0:50 (synth strings)

    Quartz Quadrant "B" Mix (1:06):

    Ocean Base (Act 1) (intro):

Both Sonic CD and Sonic Advance 3 have awesome music. I love that there's a track that seems to combine the best out of both worlds!

Probably missed the point of this thread, but wanted to share it anyway. =P
