Sonic Movie 3 - Spoiler Thread (Open spoilers within, beware)

Tbh if you go some pages back I thought that Shadow’s introduction was going to add lore that there was a hedgehog clan.

(And have Shadow maybe be either a result of getting a quill from someone in the clan and being born from that through Gerald or be a Black Arms hybrid.)

This way it could be a neat way to say why Amy, Shadow, and Silver could exist and have powers.

But I get the feeling that like the games they probably don't want to touch too much on Sonic's past lore or where he specifically comes from.

I thought they were also going to do something with that angle in Sonic 2 (since the echidnas were interested in Sonic though I guess the explanation is that maybe they thought he was a way to finding the Master Emerald?) but that didn't happen.

 

well at this point, we already have a hedgehog from a completely different source from where Sonic came from (Shadow being in a meteor), so personally I'd just accept that Amy came from somewhere else and was entirely disconnected from Sonic's origins like how Shadow was.

 

We've also had a hedgehog introduced per film, so curious if Silver will keep the momentum going.

I knew the story had to be a little different but I’m not mad about it! We have a whole new direction we can go in for Shadow’s back story since THIS version wasn’t created by Gerald Robotnik.

Sega is smart AF and finally wised up. Now “Michael Jackson in Sonic 3” means something else.

That was no accident!

 

Please call it Sonic 4 so that the Sonic 4 game gets drowned out on search engines by movie results instead

 

sonic 4 episode 2 might actually get a spike in downloads on mobile if they don't delist it or do something weird by then.

 

I’m not mad about it. Erasing Sonic 4 Ep I and Ep II with movies that are decent could help.

 

With Amy being the focus character next time around, I wonder if Paramount will give us what we want and finally bless the world with Super Amy? While I don’t want much crossover between the movies and games, this one thing I’d be very happy to see Sonic Team follow suit on.

EDIT: RE: Sonic 4 -- it's now in the same age range as Sonic Colors and Sonic Generations, both of which saw remasters and the later of which saw an entire second half of the game created. Want to create some easy synergy for a Sonic 4 movie AND fix what people consider a big blunder at the same time? Bring in Tax and crew to re-do Sonic 4. Have them import the Super Stars physics into Sonic 4 episode 1 and 2, and have them create a full fledged episode 3 that is of equal length. Bring in Tee Lopez to remix the soundtrack. Put them into a singular package and call it Sonic 4 Complete or something.

 

Yeah but that’s super in the same way Tails and Knuckles went super in Sonic Heroes. I’m almost certain that in Origins, it’s for cohesion with the existing Super Tails and Super Knuckles, while in Superstars everyone other than Sonic and Trip glow vaguely white and have some sparkles for multiplayer parity. Knuckles doesn’t even get to turn pink anymore! Clearly it’s still the case that only male hedgehogs truly get to go super.

 

Amy gets an entire form that Tails does not, so that doesn't jive. There's Hyper Sonic, Hyper Knuckles, and Hyper Amy, but only Super Tails.

 

Origins put Super Tails on the Chaos Emeralds and made the Flicky-commanding form Hyper Tails. That version is consistent across the board now.

 

? like, tails and knuckles don't even get unique sprites for their super forms in the original games. if amy is the same way as them, I'm not sure how that's different? (also, does Shadow's model even change when he goes Super, or is it just a texture change? legit at this point it seems like it's only Sonic and Trip that get actual form changes)

 

Being the Vegeta analogue, Shadow's design does not change in Super Form. It's also likely intentional as he's a modified Super Sonic model from the Adventure games.

 

Can someone explain please how does Master Emerald / Chaos Emeralds work in movie universe? Are they the same thing that changes into one another when used?

 

The Master Emerald was forged to hold and maybe harness the power of all 7 chaos emeralds.

 

Yeah, that baffled me. They left at the end of the second movie, Knuckles reforged the Master Emerald, then all of a sudden we're back to them being in the Master Emerald.

I assume the Master Emerald just summons them to itself in this continuity, then disappears until the Chaos Emeralds are no longer in use.

Actually, what happened to them? Sonic drops out of his super form and falls to Earth, then Shadow does something similar, but the Chaos Emeralds don't seem to disperse from either of them. Perhaps Sonic still has them in his body?

 

I get the feeling this is going to be similarly unanswered, which is fine by me. I think the status of the emeralds is ambiguous the moment both hedgehogs go super off them. Given Shadow depowers first and only regains his super form once he and Sonic start working together, it'd make sense that Sonic kept a hold of them as the one more experienced with them, but that's really just conjecture. At the same time, Shadow stays super for much longer than Sonic once they power up again (likely because Sonic already burned through a bunch of energy in his initial assault against a non-super Shadow, so were they with Shadow at that point? Where's the Master Emerald now? All these questions and more to be answered never!

 

Maybe Wade collects them between movies. He is the guardian of the emeralds after all.
