Being totally honest, not a fan of the lighting changes made in pic 2 because the 1st trailer made him look really menacing. The rest is fine though.

Paramount pictures released a 'behind the scenes' things involving Keanu... And it contains HUGE spoilers for the end of the film... as in the final fight/scene is fully shown...

...I see no real spoilers to speak of. That's entirely just footage from the last trailer, isn't it?

I literally did not notice that shot when I first watched the featurette and I guarantee it's going to fly over 99.9% of the populace's heads

 

Also, is it even a spoiler if it's intentionally revealed in official marketing?

I remember when people were freaking out over Sonic 2 trailers "spoiling" the Death Egg Robot, as if Paramount clearly didn't want the viewers to see it.

 

We all pretty much knew it was coming anyways. And if you didn't see it coming, what the hell?

The Shadow trailer is up to 5.9 million views on Youtube so far.
Compared to last trailer from Mufasa which is at 5.1 million views from 2 weeks ago.

Note that this doesn't actually mean anything or a good indicator of their actual performance at the box office. You never want to go off just social media data.

 

Mufasa's guaranteed to make a metric buttfuck ton of undeserved money due to millennials willingness to consume anything related to their childhood even if it pisses on the memory and soul of the original.
Sonic 3 I have no doubt it'll be successful, but going off of 1 and 2's box office sales and the live action Lion King's, it's still going to do less than half of what Mufasa will make.

 

The nostalgia of parents who grew up in the 90s versus the nostalgia of kids who grew up in the 2000s.

 

Unless Mufasa is a catastrophic Cats-level disaster of a film anyone who thinks Sonic 3 will outgross it is deluding themselves.

But like, Sonic doesn't even need to outgross it to be successful. Given how the first two movies did, it's bound to at least break even.

 

The movie's budget is only $120m it'll blow that out of the water no doubt, but it's just not touching Disney.

 

I don't think the gap is going to be that big in the domestic market. Mufasa will be the #1 film at the box office that weekend, but it does not have the luxury that the first Lion King remake had. That opened in July and had 0 competition outside of Spider-Man Far from Home in its 3rd week and at that point most PLF (Premium Large Format) screens surrendered itself to The Lion King.

This weekend is going to be crowded with Kraven, Nightbitch, The War of the Rohirrim, Nosferatu and a bunch of other smaller releases. There's also holdovers like Gladiator II and Wicked that won't be going away. None of these are direct competitors, but they are going to be taking up screen space away from each other. The real money is going to be in which film gets the PLF screens, which Mufasa will most likely dominate.

 

Paramount has nothing on Disney, that's pretty much all you need to know to understand how this is going to go.

I could Sonic being #2, but its going to be a distant 2.

 

If Sonic 3 beats Mufasa, I'll be happy to say we've reentered the era of Sonic where he was so popular he was more recognizable than Mickey Mouse.

God please let this happen, fuck Disney.

 

Do you think they'll have the nerve to kill-off any major characters (apart from Maria)?

I mean, Shadow should die to make it cannon with SA2, but we all know they won't kill him.

Maybe Gerald with meet his maker?

I actually think Eggman will die as I don't think Carrey will want to return for the 4th movie (assuming there will be another one).

Maybe this guy dies???

Gerald 100% can die and not have any major consequences. He's supposed to be dead anyway.

 

I genuinely wonder how many people are really clamoring to see the prequel to a live action remake that made a lot of money but seemingly didn't leave any cultural impact on anyone whatsoever. There's not really any nostalgia there and the live action Mufasa wasn't particularly interesting.

We'll have to see. I expect Mufasa to do well but not gangbusters so it'll be interesting to see who comes out on top here.

 

Not sure what the VFX director was thinking with these two shots. They look terrible.



The Tails one is especially bad. I get what the shot is going for as he's moving faster, but wow, it looks terrible. Both of these stuck out to me on my first viewing of the trailer.
