So I guess a 2nd, smaller trailer managed to slip past our nose. You really only need to watch the first 35 seconds, after that it's a cut down version of the first trailer:

 

What the fuck is going on with Eggman and Gerald in this movie lol

 

Given how many scenes of theme bonding leaked I got a bad feeling it's gonna be 3's wedding scene.

 

I get the feeling Gerald is making Eggman trust him more, using him to gain something, and planning to betray him in the end because he wants revenge (that Eggman is not going to like or even kill him as well) or using something to bring back Maria (and getting rid of Eggman).

 

My initial hunch was that Gerald isn't even "real" or alive and is just a hallucination of some sort buuut im definitely getting the feeling that he is very much real, im inclined to agree with Linkabel as far as any guesses as to what they'll be trying to do with him

 

Imagine going back in time to 2014 and telling people the third Sonic movie features Robotnik in a Christmas onesie literally pogging at Gerald Robotnik dressed as Santa, both played by Jim Carrey.

Or even just explaining it to anyone now.

 

Did they just made a functional Mega Drive cartridge just to make a announcement of the release date for the 2nd trailer?

The is genuily peak marketing for a movie.

It would be something else if it was a modded version of Sonic 3 or had an actual 1-level homebrew Sonic game based on then movie in it, but that probably wouldn't occur to anybody to do something like that. It, at the very least, would imply that game would also be made available on other platforms as promotion.

I don't know if we've discussed this but any ideas on who's gonna be next? I think they're gonna work backwards into Sonic Adventure 1, introducing Amy, Big and Chaos
