Yeah, the Boost basically makes the Drop Dash redundant... unless for some reason you can't use the Boost, I suppose.

Or you've run out of the Boost Gauge.

I only really care about the drop dash for classic tbh. It’s basically useless for modern Sonic

It's a bit redundant for how Generations plays, but I like that the Drop Dash and/or roll is being standardized as part of every new release now.

Though I wish they put jump dash on X so it and the Drop Dash didn't overlap. There's really no reason the jump dash is still on A, now that boost is mapped to RT.

Well it is on X if you use the new control style, since Sonic Gens has both new and legacy controls... The problem is that it also puts the drop dash on X with it, so there's no winnning.

Because they don't care what controls are for movesets.

I want the drop dash meme to end.

  10. Sonic Team not understanding why something is popular and awkwardly shoehorn it into places it doesn't fit for easy money?

That most definitely hasn't happened before......

I think the drop dash is mostly innocent compared to like the Wisps or something, I guess I like it because it forces them to remember Sonic's ability to roll into a ball :P

I will never in my life complain that Sonic Team thinks they need Sonic to roll again. Let them do it.

Complaints that it's clunky or clumsy in execution are valid, but also come on. It's Sonic Team. Of course it is. You've all been here long enough.

Would be great if Sonic Team remembered why he rolled into a ball in the first place.

They should just replace the slide move with normal rolling.

You know, the way Sonic 1 did to Mario's kit.

If they really want Boost Sonic to have the drop dash, I'd actually be interested in having it as a potential stomp follow-up. The stomp is already a landing tool, why not have that transition into a drop dash instead of needing to double jump or air dash first? Plus it'd be a nice alternative to timing a boost the exact moment Sonic lands.

Maybe the stomp animation could be a jump ball (or variation), holding stomp could perform a bounce a la Adventure, and holding boost could rev up the drop dash.

  17. Yea, which is exactly this shit is unacceptable.

Sonic Team are who they are at this point, but it's actually astounding they still do shit like this and think it's fine.

I've always thought the bounce could work with the stomp. Tap the button to bounce, hold to stomp (I think this is also how Frontiers does it)

Frontiers has it the other way around, tap to stomp, hold to bounce.
