Sonic X Shadow Generations thread, movie level out now

In all seriousness, I'm fairly confident the game will run well on the system, as it' doesn't look 'that much' more technically complex than OG Gens was, and the latter was already a surprisingly well optimizied game.

What I hate is that I want a copy of Gerald's journal, but it's a physical preorder bonus only. I ultimately need to get the PC version for the mod scene, but don't want to have to double dip on copies to get the full game lore...

Also, since no one here has mentioned it yet, first Ep of Shadow's animation storyline drops tomorrow, with the other 2 dropping October 3rd and 10th respectively.

I'm gonna be honest, I would be kind of blown away if they pulled an open zone, ten acts (and I have no idea how many Radical/Westopolis acts) and seven bosses out of this thing on top of potential extra content (including maybe Gens bonus missions?). Either it's too good to be true, or this game has had a very efficient production schedule.

 

I remember now, it was in the Doom Powers trailer. Little fella can be seen in the background of the clip with Shadow gliding through all the tornadoes/whirlpools in Radical Highway.

 

I liked Sunset Heights song, but holy fuck, they really did its justice for the remix.

 

I'm pleased with how Shadow Gens is shaping up so far. The game looks better with every new trailer. Music is good as well. It's like Sonic Generations and Sonic Frontiers had a baby! I find the graphics to look a bit rough around the edge, though. But that might be just attributed to the willingness of bringing a more intuitive gameplay experience, as well as the fact that it's cross gen.

I really wish we could have the best of both worlds someday. The polish of a Sonic Generations + the intuitiveness of Frontiers'/Shadow Generations' gameplay.

 

I think the fact that there isn't a Classic Sonic equivalent for Shadow Gens makes it more plausible. If each level is just one act each, it does mean it's still a smaller game than OG Gens.

Shadow is essentially a 3rd playable character with his own campaign much like the older 2000 era games.

 

All of the music released so far has explicitly been called Act 1 and trailers have shown off significant portions that aren't the gameplay footage at all (such as 2D areas Space Colony Ark), so these definitely are not single act levels.

 

Keanu Reeves Shadow DLC will be in the game. Levels based on scenes from Sonic 3.

 

Is that PlayStation exclusive?

 

No. It will not be PlayStation exclusive. It drops after launch tho. December 12th.

The very existence of that might be one of the funniest things I've ever heard...

As much as I don't care for Shadow currently as a character, I am envious of my nephew who gets to have this era as his Sonic zeitgeist. If I had not bought Generations twice already, I would be chomping at the bit to buy it day one.

 

That outdoor city, Tokyo I'm guessing, looks really good. I think it's one of the best looking levels I've seen so far.

HE2 can totally do photorealism, I think they just choose to stylize the main game's levels. This seems to be intended to be within the movie continuity's real world, which is super neat.

 

it probably helps too that unlike frontiers, we dont have to worry about optimizing for the open zone, and be fully contained and controlled

Wow, the X Shadow part looks better and better with each teaser. I hope those DualSense features are supported on PC, even if they don't amount to much here.
