So Eggman is Gerald's son in the movie instead of his grandson. Interesting.

Pretty cool to see Shadow's skating animation.

I like that they included chao.

Oh my god I swear it's the Space Colony Ark. 2:27 of the trailer, you can clearly see the metal stache that unfolds - I think they might try to blow up a planet.

 

I liked the part where Sonic gives Eggman some metaphorical drugs.

 

I am hoping they find a way to bring Metal Sonic into this. That would be a nice surprise.

Was thinking the same thing and came prepared with a gif and everything. Though it also kind of looks like the thing that came out of the ocean earlier in the trailer? I dunno I'm HOPING it's the ARK anyway.

Yeah, it is the thing that comes out of the water (you can tell based off the red ring the machine has, reference it from the shot at 1:31), and I think it's the Ark/Death Egg! It's just, like, soooo small compared to the games' lmaoo. So cute, probably a weapon of mass destruction of some sort. I wonder if it's space-compatible, though - looks dark behind it, but it could just be night-time. But I want to assume the lone lightsource to our right is the sun and not a really tall lamppost

Also, what's Knux doing back there? Wonder if the ship is being powered by the MA, or if they're taking the SA2 approach of all separate Chaos Emeralds being plugged into the core. I remember at the end of Sonic Movie 2, the Chaos Emeralds scattered, so Shadow is prolly gonna try finding them for whatever shenanigans he's up to.

Edit: I am high off Shadow. Riding the Shadow-high. I feel like a million ultimate lifeforms.

That trailer was honestly too damn long and is spoiling too much. I was hyped at first, felt it dragged on in the 3rd minute.

You can tell Paramount is desperate to make this a hit given their recent financial situation.

But hey, the actual film will be solid, I'm sure. There's no way it'd ever be a 1/1 adaptation of SA2, so I just want it to be an enjoyable romp with all the right elements.

(Oh, and they pretty much nail Shadow himself, so I'm not going to hyper focus on whether not Gerald matches what little of him we even got in the main game's lore. Especially when I love Carrey himself so much.)

 

Assuming that Gerald doesn't just walk around with a lab coat and ID tag... I'd recon he's a figment of Robotnik's imagination.

This is extremely close to + - Grimer freeing Chaos in order to motivate Robotnik in StC   . I like it.

 

This was a pretty cool trailer, i liked it a lot. I am a bit surprised it's straying this far from SA2 but i really can't say how much of a good or bad thing that is until i actually see the movie. i just hope the soundtrack isnt dog shit this time, the trailer has game leitmotifs but all of the trailer did even when the actual films didnt

While as silly as that would be, I don't think so, they seem to be going "Gerald is his father" route. I don't think THAT part of the trailer was a joke/misleading us.

Adding time travel to the mix would be fun in a disastrous way... I've heard a lot of rumors/theories that may be the case, it would be fun to see how convoluted it gets. It would make for an interesting excuse to check out the Ark's history.

That or was in Suspended Animation or just hopped out of some sort of time portal. I prefer the previous to the latter. Time Travel is sooo messy.

 

Calling it right now: Somehow Robotnik is going to make Metal Sonic to try and "help" and Sonic and Shadow are going to have to team up to beat him. What I'd expect at least.

 

I'll bet all my money on Ivo Robotnik still being the villain at the end.

Shadow was most likely awakened by Stone, the first teaser had Carrey laughing maniacally with a caption about him coming back with a vengeance from hiding and the Cinemacon trailer supposedly showed him working together with Shadow.
