    Use the timecode here at 53:15 if you want to see (a bit of) the new Knuckles path in Collision Chaos 1. This is confirmed to have been done in multiple acts throughout the game, like in Sonic 1/2's remasters.

    Also, I noticed an extra life Knuckles can glide to at the end of Palmtree Panic Act 2.

    Awww.. It doesn’t look this is going to get the polish this deserves (but always expected it wouldn’t get).

    -They are still using that horrible character select/save select screen. And from the save data warning messages that appear, it doesn’t look like you be able to use a completed save file as a level select.

    -You can’t have custom hero/sidekick pairings. And in Sonic CD, it doesn’t look like you can have any pairings.

    -It doesn’t look like they expanded 2P VS either.

    Of course, like I said I didn’t expect them to do any of this. But given the price tag (especially the total price existing owners will have paid) it would have been nice if they had added more polish.

    Still on the “Plus” side, Knuckles looks fantastic. And it sounds like he’s getting more new routes than he did in S1/S2.

    Am I crazy or does the game run at much lower fps that it's supposed to? This looks like a drag

    Not having a Sonic (or Amy or Knuckles) & Tails AI combo in S1 & CD sucks. Probably due to some stupid SEGA mandate.

    I just hope Team Stealth has been allowed to fix 3K and they better have been allowed to add an option to play as Knuckles (& Tails).

    Wished they shown-off a bit more of the new route.

    Now, if only Knux, Tails Doll & Metal Knux had 3D models through Origins or so, one could think of remaking Sonic R... xD
    They could even give the players a chance to switch between Classic & Modern models (not that Tails Doll needed it ^^").

    It’s a real shame that they didn’t port over the ability to switch characters that was in Mania’s encore mode.

    It would have been super fun to have different combinations of characters.

    Plus, in that mode, you only die when all the characters have been defeated, which means you can take more hits. So it would have made the classics more accessible to newer players.

    That’s what stings about Origins. All the code for the features needed to make it shine was already written for Mania. It doesn’t seem like it would be infeasible to port that code over, especially given the high $54 price tag that existing owners will be paying.

    Love the confirmation of multiple new level design changes for Knuckles in SCD (not just the one like the website seemed to suggest), his/Amy's new sprites and presumably both being added to the 3D islands. Though yeah, I also notice some things that are still unaddressed.

    - No blue fade-outs like S3&K, or fade-outs on dropped Rings
    - SCD cutscene might still be too loud, also still playing with other characters and without the special borders in Classic Mode
    - Same weird save system (they technically haven't disproven a Level Select upon game completion but probably not)
    - No Sonic & Tails? Seriously?

    These are mostly garnish, but no Sonic & Tails really bugs me. It'd be so easy to add at this point. What kind of double standard is it to have that be off-limits for SCD but not Knuckles & Tails being a DEFAULT in S2? I really hope this doesn't mean S&T in S1 via Level Select is still busted and crashes the game after 6 Chaos Emeralds. Also don't know if we should expect K&T in the other games, except S3&K where it can technically be glitched into for one level, or Super Sonic in SCD, despite new sprites being possible and him flying on the island.

    IDK if they'd add the swapping of Encore Mode without any of the other differences across 4 games, and partners alone seem kinda mechanically useless to me outside of Tails or Knuckles (the later being planned for S3&K or at least leftover from Mania as a cut & Knuckles Mode cheat, and could maybe give access to his paths as Sonic/Tails/Amy), but more little Mania additions like Cool Bonus and tally speeding-up would go a long way, even if it's not as simple as just dragging and dropping that from Mania (remember the Drop Dash had different implementation than Mania in S1/SCD/S2, which I hope isn't still busted either).

    We've still yet to see what Headcannon meant by "a few additional updates and enhancements", but it wasn't these things that might partially be on Sonic Team's implementation. I should keep expectations in check, but I honestly wouldn't mind if it was just more cheat codes, especially if & Tails playability is actually just confined to that. At the very least it shouldn't be too hard for someone to mod in.

    For me personally, the biggest let down for me is that they didn’t add 2P VS to SCD (and so probably haven't for S1 either). I wasn't expecting this. But I've had so much fun with 2P VS in Sonic 2, so it's a shame that they aren't expanding it to more levels.

    It's true, partners don’t add any mechanical benefit. But these characters mean a lot to people at an emotional level. So being able to mix and match things like Amy in charge with Sonic following, or Sonic & Knuckles is a lot of fun, even if it's mostly a cosmetic difference.

    I also appreciate that such features aren't simply dragged and dropped. They would need to ported-over and tested for bugs, all of which is considerable work. But the collection is priced at $54 for existing owners and is made up of a lot of recycled content, so it doesn't feel like they should be heavily constrained by budget (although I do appreciate that adding Amy and Knuckles to SCD is quite an expense).

    Look I like the US Sonic social media team but this was an awful showcase of Origins Plus. I was going to immediately buy Plus. Now I’m in doubt… is the lag due to streaming issues or game performance issues. I’ll be waiting to find out. It is insane that their promotion of the game is a laggy stream and a stupid bingo card that doesn’t show off any of the game. I’m honestly worried that post-movie we’re entering a phase of rushed half-baked sonic products to cash in while Sonic is hot again. I also feel bad for Headcanon, who I know care so deeply yet are constantly seeing negativity from me and other fans about origins. (That said Headcanon people stay off twitter lol)

    Imagine it's just the game's Denuvo at play here lol.

    Showing the game running at 0.75% speed for whatever reason wasn't their best foot forward, but even with my qualms, I sincerely doubt they'll have half-baked and rushed out Origins twice, especially after just restoring good will with Headcannon.

  13. Even speeding up the video with youtube at 1.25x speed or w/e something about the way knuckles moves just feels... off. I can't quite put my finger on it...

    Shot in the dark here, as I don't own Origins on PC, but could the game have been running on a 50hz monitor? Mania, for whatever reason, has its speed tied to refresh rate on PC (so playing it at 50hz gives you that authentic PAL experience, I guess), and if Origins does the same that might be what it is.

    Let's be realistic here, the stream was obviously lagging a ton, but there's no reason to suspect that the game is actually going to run that slowly. I think that they were playing on PC with whatever streaming and recording software they were using making the games performance tank. Origins is already out and we know it doesn't play anything in that footage.

    Ya idk what was up with that stream but origins doesn’t run like that on my pc, it runs fine for me. But yea that’s like, ign cuphead tutorial levels of bad gameplay, yikes.

    Denuvo is my concern. I never got vanilla origins. I know it’s performance was awful but supposedly there was some way to configure your pc/laptop’s setting to improve performance.

    Look people make mistakes. It could’ve just been that the folks on the stream didn’t have enough prep time to prevent lag from streaming. But after the botched Origins launch, they really should be making a better effort to make a good impression.

    They should have just posted the trailer first lol, not a gameplay stream (not exactly blaming the social media manager there).

    Like they cold have used the stream gameplay for later, I don't know. I really don't understand SEGA's logic on "marketing".

    Looking at the Knuckles Collision Chaos footage again, the game still lacks the Japanese soundtrack loops Origins removed previously. Considering that and that the SCD cutscene is still too loud, my guess is that they also didn't touch up the S3&K soundtrack, as previously feared with Frontiers' music update where Origins tracks were just reused.
